| | Hello, and welcome to "Halo 1 and You : An XBConnect Guide". With the knowledge I have gained from countless other threads, and the constant failure of my XBConnect, I have a good sum of knowledge on how to connect to XBC, forward your ports, and many other things to get you playing Halo 1 with all of your friends! But wait! You can help, too! I may have some experience in this matter, but there will always be things that I can not solve. That is where you come in. If you have any advice on how to better your experience over XBConnect, please, feel free to share it with the community, and I can slap it right onto this post! Yippee! Let's get started! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Halo 1 and You : And XBConnect Guide --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XBConnect General Information XBConnect Official Website What you can do on the XBConnect Official WebsiteXBConnect's Help Centre This specific page of the website can help with a LOT of problems. The sections of the Help Centre are: FAQ Xbox Network Setups PSP Network Setups Router Configurations Firewall Setups Clan Support NeXBC Guide Help Chat Help Forums Here are some FAQ that are useful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Network Setup The most important thing to do, in order to play with XBConnect, is to be able to connect to it! Here are several examples of Network Setups that will work with XBConnect. ![]() Step 1: Plug your network cable (RJ-45 cable) that comes from your modem into the uplink port of your hub. (Make sure that your uplink is switched to "on"). Step 2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the hub, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer. Step 3: Take another RJ-45 cable and run it from a different port of your hub directly to your xbox. NOTE: A switch may be used in place of a hub with the same basic setup. ![]() Step 1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your modem into the WAN port of your router. Step 2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the router, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer. Step 3: Take another RJ-45 cable and run it from a different port of your router directly to your xbox. NOTE: If your router has a built in firewall, you will need to forward ports 8602 both incoming and outgoing to the internal ip address of your pc. Consult your device manual for port forwarding or visit PortForward.com ![]() Step 1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your modem into first NIC card on your PC. Step 2: Take a RJ-45 Crossover Cable and run it from the second NIC card on your PC, directly to your Xbox. NOTE: A Crossover Cable is only needed if you are connecting the Xbox directly to a NIC card. This type of network setup also requires the use of WinICS (tutorial found here) or a program such as WinRouteİ (downloadable from the world wide web). Consult the manual for specific instructions on how to set this up or visit our WinRoute Configuration section. ![]() Step 1: Plug your USB cable that comes from your modem into your PC's USB port. This should already be done, if you have a usb modem for your current internet connection. Step 2: Take a RJ-45 Crossover Cable and run it from an installed NIC card on your PC, directly to the Xbox. ![]() Step 1: Plug the USB Cable that comes from the Wireless Adapter into your PC's USB port. This should already be done, if you have a wireless router for your current internet connection. Step 2: Take a RJ-45 Crossover Cable and run it from an installed NIC card on your PC, directly to the Xbox. NOTE: A regular RJ-45 Cable can be used instead of a USB Cable for connecting the Cable/DSL Modem to the Router. This type of network setup also requires the use of WinICS (tutorial found here) or a program such as WinRouteİ (downloadable from the world wide web). Consult the manual for specific instructions on how to set this up or visit our WinRoute Configuration section. Now, once you have your setup, you should be able to find your Xbox in XBConnect under "Tools" / "Find" / "My Console". In order to do this, you need to have Halo 1 booted, be in System Link, and be looking for a game. If XBConnect does not find the console, the first thing you should do is check that your Network Setup fits all of the requirements of the pictures above. If it still does not work, try contacting XBConnect Help. Alright, now your connected, and ready to go. But wait, when you join a players game, you cannot see anyone in the room or the game! What to do! Now, we will forward your ports. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Port Forwarding THIS IS NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY ON XBConnect! It could, however, allow you to connect to more hosts. Choose Your Router First things first, find your router. If your specific model is not listed, try something that is very similar to that. If you can not do that, then you will have to live with it. Once you have done this, choose XBConnect. Cimply follow their instructions from here, and this is how you will find what IP Address to forward to: Port Forwarding
