Been thinking about getting the Astro Gaming A40's a few months down the line, they work out about £120. Will I get what I'm paying for, and will they be suitable for all my different needs?

Ty in advance.
Don't get those. £120 and sacrifice music quality isn't really an option for me so I don't recommend them.

The recommendation I just gave Angel on H3FUK might interest you. Basically you're looking at DT 880s for an all-round pair that does music and gaming very well.

880's look good. Any recommendations on the best place to buy them?

Would you not recommend the A40's, even if it was just for gaming? The prospect of the mic etc seems tempting.

What would you recommend if I wanted to get a pair of strictly gaming headphones for $300? They need to have a built in mic.

$300 on gaming headphones is a waste of money.

At least when listening to music there is a difference. The difference when playing games isn't worth spending more than $120 on AD700s.

I don't recommend the A40s full stop.

You'd probably be best importing them. Headroom, bluetin or TTVJ will probably have good prices on them. If not, eBay would probably have the best prices.

Also note, there is 2 different types. The 880 Pro and 880 200s. The 2005s are better and newer, but more expensive. Haven't heard much about the Pro's.

Scott, with this soundcard,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829121122

...would I have to start using FLAC for my music or is my current library of mp3s/m4a's enough to have a difference? I also know nothing of FLAC and stuff, so I'd have to start researching and what not.

Nah you wouldn't need to use FLAC.
