Hmm, I guess this could be a good idea. But I'm not sure how people are actually interested enough to buy decent ones.

If you want a recommendation from me I'll need:

1. Budget
2. Uses percentage (e.g 80% music, 20% gaming)
3. Music taste
4. Preferred sound signature (optional, but would help)
5. Open or closed style

  1. Budget: Try to keep it close to $300.
  2. Usage: I'll be using them for both gaming and music
  3. Music Taste: I listen to a lot of rock and a lot of techno type music like Daft Punk and Nine Inch Nails.
  4. I have no idea what you mean when you say, "Sound signature."
  5. I'm not sure what you mean by, "Open or closed style."

Sound signature is what type of sound you like. Some like no bass, some like lots of bass. Some people prefer forward mids, bright highs etc. If you're not experienced with audio stuff then it doesn't matter, I'll just recommend good all-rounders.

Open headphones leak sound out and let sound in. Closed headphones don't, not as much anyway. Open ones usually have a larger soundstage (better for gaming) but less bass.

These are probably the best under $200:

Great for gaming (largest sounstage out of all headphones in the price range and are very fast and accurate) and music, extremely comfortable and don't need an amp. They look a bit funny though as they're huge.

I do need some help picking out headphones, Scott. I'm not 100% positive on the specifics yet though.

I'm looking for a good simple pair but I'm not looking to drop a lot on em'. I am just looking to use them for listening to music/edit when people in the house are asleep. I've got really nice speakers for my new PC but I can't use them at 3 AM .

If you've got an idea of any or know of any with good specs that aren't too outrageous in price please post. I'd prefer black/closed, but whatever you got works. Aslo If you've got numerous choices too that'd be great!

Thanks buddy.
