This will be my first time investing in a good pair of headphones. My roommate and I have highly different tastes in music (he is from Dubai, and likes Hindi music), so I'd like to be able to drown him out, and have it so he doesn't have to hear my music either (I'm assuming that's what "closed" means). I was considering the Beyerdynamic DT770s, but you said they were bass heavy, and I would prefer something that is more balanced. The Sennheiser HD 595s looked good too, but I don't really want open-style if I can avoid it.

Thank you!

Comfort is important too, since I wear glasses.

Probably Denon D1001 then. There aren't too many good closed headphones for that price.

well i don't necessarily need closed. Is there anything kind of in between open and closed? Just as long as people with a 10 foot radius can't hear me, it shouldn't be a problem.

D1001 are some of the best you can get under $150 anyway, so they're a good choice if you want closed.

So I'm trying to choose between a pair of in ear headphones I want.

Which is better for in-ear?
Maximum input of 5mW or 100mW
