Out of those I'd go with the UM2. Never heard anything bad about them.

But if you want a lot of bass you should look at the Extra Bass versions of the Super.fi 5's. Super.fi 5 EB they're called, naturally.

1. 150 dollars
2. 60% gaming, 40% music
3. classic rock, progressive, alternative, various metal, etc.
4. would prefer a good mid range and sound stage for gaming.
5. Open

From reading over this thread I was thinking about buying the AD700s. Although, some people have told me they are big or uncomfortable. =/

do those sound decent with an on board sound drive?

AD700's are very big yeah, but they are far from uncomfortable. They're extremely light and the ear pads are huge and soft, they're probably the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn.

They'd be perfect for you anyway, either those or HD555s.

1. $150ish
2. 35% gaming, 65% music
3. Rock-- alternative, classic, metal, punk, acoustic, you name it
4. Would like a good soundstage for gaming, but music performance takes precedence. Would like well balanced sound (nothing too bass heavy, or anything like that).
5. Closed

This will be my first time investing in a good pair of headphones. My roommate and I have highly different tastes in music (he is from Dubai, and likes Hindi music), so I'd like to be able to drown him out, and have it so he doesn't have to hear my music either (I'm assuming that's what "closed" means). I was considering the Beyerdynamic DT770s, but you said they were bass heavy, and I would prefer something that is more balanced. The Sennheiser HD 595s looked good too, but I don't really want open-style if I can avoid it.

Thank you!

Ok i want some Senn HD580's but yea, there discontinued. I plan to mod them with the HD600 Grills, and a new HD650 Cable. Anyone have a pair they can sell or maybe even trade me for my HD595's?

I'll pay 150 or whatever you want for them.

You can still get HD580s even though they're discontinued. Check head-fi FS forums and eBay.

Amazon sometimes have them too.
