Scott, what's your opinion on cable and power filters?

EDIT: Also, will a DAC replace my soundcard? Or will it go soundcard>?amp?>dac>?amp?>headphones
You could do it two ways, depending on which inputs the DAC has.

If it's USB, then it will just be: USB -> DAC -> Amp -> Headphones

If it's digital only (like a lot of DACs are), then it will be: Sound card's coxial or optical output -> DAC -> Amp -> Headphones

Using a sound card that way, is called using it as a transport.

I got my M-Audio Q40's last week, and I'm really enjoying them. Their sound signature is pretty neutral, but I can hear a little warmth in some cases. I had some fairly cheap Sennheisers before I got these, and the difference between their detail and clarity is definitely apparent. I've been hearing things that I never before noticed in my music. The bass has a nice deep and limitless feel, I love it. These headphones also don't produce any piercing highs, which is something I hate, so I'm very happy with that. I love their portability and build quality as well; they have nice metal hinges so you can fold them up, and the cord unplugs from the headphones as well. Did I mention that these beasts are damn sexy looking? Well, they are. All in all, excellent headphones. I'm very content with my purchase. One more quick thing, though. Scott, could you recomend me an mp3 player that has superior sound quality compared to an ipod? I'm buying a new one soon, and I could use some help. Thanks.

Just get AD700s ($100 from newegg).

Seeing as you're using them for gaming mostly you won't notice the difference higher end headphones would bring.

Never seen those before, or heard anything about them. Doesn't look like they'd be much good for music though.

I just listened to some SR60's today. Oh my god...amazing headphones. My next purchase: Grado, for sure.
