Posts: 101 | So those k81djs aren't over the ear, just on the ear. I'm just trying to figure out how those wouldn't make your ears sore after a few hours. My Sony's (I forgot they are actually v600's) just get my ears warm and could wear them for hours on end. I'll probably still get them, and if they don't work out, I'll try something else out. I've seen them for $60 so not bad.

| | You won't hear anything other than the music. I missed phone calls plenty of times using my open Audio Technicas when I had them. Others will hear what you're listening to though if they're within a few feet. | |||||

| | Awesome. I've heard so many good things about them. I should be getting my HD650s on tuesday if the dude ships them off on monday. I've been headphone-less for a week. :O! | |||||

Posts: 101 | I'm going to try either the M-Audio Q40's or the Equation's. I'm just used to the comfort of my V600s so the 81dj's might seem painful to wear.

| | Hey I recently was going to buy those Audio Techinica AD700's you recommended to me when i stumbled upon the HD 595. Can you tell me the real difference between them besides the fact that they look cooler. And are they worth buying?

Posts: 1 | Ok, so I'm pretty set on picking up some 595's and eventually an amp of some sort. budget: 150 usage: 50% music 50% game taste: anything... literally. but a lot of jazz and big band stuff signature: fairly balanced sound, maybe a tad bit more bass open or closed? i don't care Any other headphones that would be better than the 595's? P.s. i said i would eventually get an amp, which amp would you suggest Scott?

HD595s are your best bet judging by your music taste. Unless you can find HD580s - they're discontinued but are excellent, they'd be quite a bit better than HD595s. They're basically HD600s in a different housing. Some people prefer the HD580s to HD650s. HD580s need an amp though. They usually sell for $100-150 - check eBay or amazon. They're both very good, you can't go wrong with either. HD595s will be better for classical, vocal/acoustic because of their smooth midrange and laid back sound. AD700s will be better for rock/metal as they're faster and more dynamic. Last edited by Scott; 04-21-2008 at 07:40 PM.
