I'm gonna buy this video card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130330) with my new job money (oh yahh first job babbbbaayy) and my birthday money. I wanna make sure I'm eligible for their step up plan though. Does anyone know FOR SURE when nVidia is releasing their next installment in the 9x00series?

I am waiting for the 9800. I'm sure that line goes around the corner.

From what I've been hearing they should be releasing more 9 series cards coming March. Not sure when in March but it still easily falls within the 90 days of the step up.

lol you probably wont want to step up if what nVidia is releasing is serious. So far, the information on the 9800GTX is ridiculous.

This image also popped up on another forum. Although, I'm going to say it's photoshopped. nVidia would have to smoke like 30 rocks of crack to come out with something like that as a GTX.

The GTX should at least be using the G94 core. It really doesn't make any sense if they stick to G92. With the 8800GT and GTS being G92 cores you can easily overclock them to speeds that the 9800GTX are said to do. Hopefully all that is a joke and the cards actually have a 512-bit memory interface, 150+ sp's, and pushing around 800mhz core and 2ghz memory. Which the G94 is definitely capable of with some better binning and a bump in voltage.

Anyway, the 9600GT is a good card for an even better price and unless you can fork over the extra cash for an 8800GT or GTS then stick with it.

I suppose I'm a noob. But, I don't quite understand your rationale. I think if I step up to a 9800, then imma need a a bigger PSU.

From what I've heard the 9900GTX is just a rebadged 8800GT with 3 way SLI capabilities, and the 9800GX2 is just 2 8800GTS 512MB stuck together.

Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, pretty much what I've seen. Not impressive at all. I was really expecting better out of nVidia. I mean, looking at those specs above the 9800s aren't even an upgrade from the 8800GT and GTS.

What are you confused about? Looking at the links above the 9800s will be using the G92 core, which is exactly the same as the current 8800GT and GTS. nVidia also just released the 9600 (G94 core), however, wont be implementing it's new G94 core into the higher end cards. It's like if Intel released another series of 45nm dual cores and just changed the name.
