Seriously, though - The reason is that Linux was and is what is called 'open source', meaning that anyone in the world was allowed to add on, modify and alter the original Linux kernel released way back in 1991.

Linux has gone through many changes, including the addition of a GUI in the form of (typically) KDE or Gnome. While there are quite a few different GUI's (Graphical User Interfaces) that have been attached to Linux, the aforementioned two flavors are by far the world's most popular ones.

The attachment of libraries and additional programs are typically GNU libraries, which is a project that has gone on since the early 1980's. Most Linux variants, including all of the above versions in the poll, are GNU/Linux variations. While there are several notable differences in how each particular version of Linux handles operations such as file hierarchy, archiving and networking, overall they are actually very similar at their core level.

Most consumer grade routers (Linksys, Netgear, D Link and so on) and even some mobile phones such as the Motorola Razr use a command-line version of Linux for their bootable firmwares. While these versions of Linux are only command line variants (there's no GUI to deal with the internal Linux kernel), we can thank Linux for keeping the costs down to the under $100 range for most routers. Otherwise, routers would prospectively have to be indiividually licensed using other operating systems, probably based on Windows 2000, NT, Novell or maybe even Solaris (or a custom version of Unix like MacOS).

The truth is, most people today are in fact Linux users, that is if they own a router, they just aren't aware of it.

I am new to Ubuntu and get this error whenever I try to install Exaile.

Code:
 sudo apt-get install exaile
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
exaile: Depends: python-pysqlite2 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: python-pyvorbis but it is not going to be installed
Depends: python-mutagen but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

Anyone who knows how to fix this, help is appreciated.

You might try Exaile. I'm not sure if that would work, but linux is very case-sensitive

I've been using Ubuntu for a month and it's great. I love the fact that I don't feel bad for using programs becuase everything is free.

Anyway, here's my question. I started out with the Gnome desktop, but wanted to use some of the apps compatible with KDE so I installed that as well. Now, my computer boots into Kubuntu (and thus KDE) every time I start it up, then the desktop magically changes back to Gnome. How do I turn on each desktop environment when I want it?

1. Can i use Itunes? No (maybe through WINE), better alternatives (Amarok, Rythmbox, XMMS)

Such As Wallpaper? YES
3. AIM? You can use the official client, as well as other alternatives.
4. Can i watch Montages?, AVI, and any other type of video/audio file? Yes
5. Can i download programs?VLC?MSN? You can download and install programs. VLC has a Linux version. I'm not too sure about MSN. You cannot install and run windows programs. (though a lot will run through WINE).

Thanks for answering
