| | It is some silly version of XP that comes prepackaged with all sorts of scene releases. It really isn't worth it.

| | I'm kind of a Linux n00bz0rz, so I was wondering, IF I was to go to Linux is there ANY possibility of my messing up something and completely messing up my computer....or losing all of my files that I have saved? I only have one computer, and if I mess up...I'm f..ked. Really thats the only thing that is stopping me from trying Linux

Posts: 8,197 | Alright let's see if anyone here can help me with this. My laptop is currently dualboot (XP & Ubuntu). Recently, I upgraded to the newest version, Gutsy Gibbon. Ever since, whenever I try to boot into linux, my screen just goes black. It loads with the bar, like it should, but then intead of the login screen popping up, it just goes blank. I can boot it up into recovery mode or w/e my other option is, but I'm not sure what I need to type at the command line to get it working. If that makes any sense, anyone got any ideas? I don't really want to to a fresh uninstall/reinstall

Now, if only I could get my f..king wireless figured out. I've got a Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI card. I've tried typing in my SSID and password to no avail. I haven't put a ton of effort into finding a fix on ubuntu's forums, though EDIT: Jk. I got my wireless working EDIT2: I've been messing around, customizing crap all day, and am pretty pleased with my desktop and whatnot.
