Decent teams?
They barely beat a horrible Kansas City team and beat an overrated Jets team that isn't that great (Well, I guess just give 'em time) by a couple of points. The Pats are nowhere near the level that they were playing at last year. Not having Brady is making a big difference. Even if they did have Brady though, I believe the rest of the league has been able to catch up to them, as evidenced by the Division-leading Bills.
