The curse is still around though, you see this year by putting Favre on the cover, the Madden curse forced Favre to retire when he still fully capable of playing at a high level and taking his team far into the playoffs.

And why did he have to throw it into double coverage? It was his first year, so he should definitely be allowed to mishandle a snap in the playoffs and cost his team a playoff win.

Favre threw 1 INT in the Championship game. It just happened to be in OT. He's known for INTs like that anyways, he's always been the gunslinger.
