-now you are allowed to have 4 defensive poles out on the field so now it is like HS and College. Which should result in less scoring and maybe a little more hitting

-you now can have 19 people on your roster which will help teams specialize there team.

Lacrosse is a pretty unknown game in America. Pretty sure it is popular in Europe. Here i am going to explain how to play, what the positions are, the plays and some other things. I will also start a list on who plays and who plays where on the field. It is one of the biggest College sports.Lacrosse is a mix of hockey,basketball,football,soccer.

About Lacrosse: It is a very chaotic game people are always running around. T The object of the game is to put the ball about the size of a tennis ball and 1-5 pounds in weight(depending on class and level of play). There is 48 minutes in a game and there are 3 midfielder. Guys who can go both ways attack and defense as in soccer. There are 3 attackers that stay back and only play offense. Then there is 4 defenders that play defense and only one can cross past midfield.The defenders have a bigger stick than the mid fielders (haha). The way they start the game is with a face off two guys put there shoulders near each other crouch down and you rake the ball away for your other guys to get it. When a shot goes out who ever was closest to the ball there team gets the ball. The field is the size of a football field but a little bigger. Because of the X position.

Rules and Restriction:
You CAN:
-check with stick (hands together)
-hit there stick and hand as hard as you want.
-put you hand out NOT hitting them but as a bumper.
- You can go in the crease if you are on defense.
-You have to clear the ball from mid field (you have 10 seconds)

You can NOT:
-Hit in back while opponent.
-Can not hit with stick anywhere else besides hands and stick (you can get away with a rib poke)
-Check someone if the ball is not 5 yards away from the person
-Hit the goalie if they are in the crease or his stick.
-Can not go in crease if you offense(your stick can but not you)
-Can not trip
-You can not hit of push off with your free hand.

**In case of a penalty there is a one minute timeout session for that player that committed the foul** (or man up for team that got fouled)
Or a 3 minute timeout because of a unsportsmanlike foul.(non releasable)

Tactics:
Pick-same in basketball stand in front of a man to stop his progression. YOU have to be still and can not hit the man.
Screen- To stand in front of the goalie to blind him.
Slide- If you teammate gets you slide to stop him from scoring.
stick check- To knock the ball or stick out of there hand.
Cradle- This is a MUST it is to hold the ball in your stick but move it to keep the ball inside the pocket. It is basically making half a circle with the stick or taking on hand and shaking the stick vertical. You can also spin it which takes longer to learn.
Feed- It is simply to pass the ball to a guy in the Hole (outside of the crease) for a easy shot.

Face Off- Exactly in the middle of the field
Mid field- Area between the both attack areas.
X- Behind the goal.
Side Wings- a defender or offender is positioned on each side of the field or the side lines.

Calls:
Im Hot/Hot-Means you have the crease covered
I got You/I got your back-means if your teammate gets beat you have the slide to help.
Top,left,right,center-Usually goalie or defender tell where ball is.
Goal line- Tells that the person is at the goal line
He is at X- opponent is behind the goal.
Light Up- A offensive man is in the crease you hit him as hard as possible but a legal hit.
Adjacent or AJ- Meaning no one is in the crease so play up on man

Shoulder Pads- Almost fabric like not really that protective and is very light!

Helmet- Very different from football not heavy at all and provided just as good protection.

Stick- The pocket is not that big when bought you must stretch it (you soak the pocket in water, then put a ball in and then wedge a piece of wood or take a screw driver and hold the ball in the pocket while it is wet for a night or 2.

Gloves- The gloves need to be big and padded because you are always getting hit in the hand. (they are supposed to be loose on the bottom for wrist movement).

Arm pads- You have to have these. The reason is people aren't that accurate and take a blow to the elbow you will probably be going to the ER for X-Rays.

I actually got back from practice about 2 hours ago. I play attack and middy. I've got a brine Answer and a Titan Pro shaft.

what kind of sticks do you guys have?

I play Attack. Im a sophmore, but I start. I can help out mainly with attack questions, seeing as i can play multiple aspects of it. Im 6'6 so i can play crease, or i can go to the wings and X. X is basically lacrosse slang for behind the goal.

Not a huge fan of brine, but the titan pro is one of the best shafts out there. On my main stick I use a Helix with durable mesh and a Dolomite handle, and on my back up I have a kryptopro with a Finalizer and durable Mesh.

Lacrosse is unheard in central IL for most people, none of the high schools (15+) in the area play.

My school is starting a Lacrosse team, and building an astro turf field for it.


I was kinda interested until I learned theres no big hitting or a lot of physicalness.
