The reason why fighters like him don't get much publicity is they fight at lower weight classes. UFC needs to expand the WEC more and start really showing those fighters under LW. There is so many great fighters that people haven't seen because all they know are 155ers and up.

On a side note, I'm going to some fights this weekend actually. A new local fight organization opened up. Kind of like the XFO's jeff curran used to hold. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I've seen some good people come out of IL. So I'm hoping this will be sick.
By the way, do you train anywhere McGert? or anyone else in this thread? just interested.

I just turned 20, my dad got me into submission fighting/ufc with him when I was in 4th grade. I trained at carlson gracie jr's for a little, jeff curran's almost all of middle school and high school, and now I'm training locally with a guy named Paul Sharp (who is a beast. for real, i wont even go off on my rant of how good he is).

No training here. I live in Southern IL and there is a Gracie Barra I think in Decatur, which is about a 2 hour drive from me. Kind of hard to train when you work 6 days a week and work 10-12 hours a day.

But I do the James Thompson training. I watch a lot of dvds.

That's too bad. mma is almost as fun as halo, lol. only thing keeping my lazy ass in shape.
But with the way mma has been growing, I wouldn't be suprised if you get something closer to you eventually. At least you have SIU, and rockclimbing,lol. I like southern IL, went down there a couple times.

I have EIU in my town. About 40 mins. south of U of I. I guess there is a Muay Thai champ in Mattoon. I would love to learn that and BJJ, but like I said, Decatur is a little long of a drive for my schedule. Considering I work second shift, I have no life anyways.

Yeah, Muay Thai is good stuff. I'd like to learn more of that too. My ground game is really good. As far as stand-up goes, I took private boxing out at curran's for awhile, I wrestled high school, did judo just for the balance, and the place i'm training at now is affiliated with Straight Blast. Which I've seen more and more lately in the ufc.
So my stand up is not bad by any means, but I'd like to learn more of the Muay thai kicks and all that. You have to be flexible for kicking though...which is my biggest problem.
But I'm just training for fun right now anyways. I might get more serious about it when I'm done with college and I have more time.
