Please explain to me how his "dead self" would be able to "realise". If someone were dead, in the way you describe it, he wouldn't be able to "realise" anything.

As an atheist, I feel compelled to point out that if Jesus returned, than he must have existed in some point; and if he is capable of returning to Earth in living form 2000 years after his supposed death, than it's a safe bet that the details of the rapture, as described in the New Testament, will unfold before our very eyes. Having said that, we don't see the return of Jesus, by virtue of him never having existed in the first place.

i wonder what all the athiests will say when he does come back at the apocolyps (sp?)

If Jesus returned, I'd be an instant convert, but history, and you know, FACTS, are so incredibly against the idea that Jesus even existed in the first place that it's nigh completely irrational to conform to the christian system of beliefs.
