what happened?!
One day I refused to even stand up for the pledge, then my teacher yelled at me and said to go to the office and they gave me detention.

hmm..well everyone of my school has said it since i can remember..now im 16 turning 17 in a couple days..and we still say it..also basically the reason everybody is in my city though is because theres a major base about 30 minutes away..and most retired military goes to my school..or even lots of ppl still in the military..

but as for ur post kn0xy..its said every morning over the announcements..but that doesnt mean you have to say it..

Yep, another reason why Canada is great.

Also, here's something from Wikipedia:

Cameron Frazier, a student at Boynton Beach High School, was removed from algebra class after he refused to follow his teacher's instructions to recite the Pledge or stand during recitation." This means that people can not be forced to participate in any way, not even forced to stand, and there is no parental consent necessary.
That'll be why the fellows in Florida don't have to say it, I think.

Its a state law in Indiana that we have to say The Pledge everyday in school. I really dont mind it though. Before we just said it once a week.

If you choose to not say the pledge of allegiance, you get in trouble. Like the one guy said, he got detention for refusing to say the pledge of allegiance. I don't believe in any G_d, yet the school says everyone has to say the pledge of allegiance. We did have it "banned" from our school for one year but it was brought back the next year. Even people that are jehovah witnesses have to either sit in there and pretend that they are saying the pledge of allegiance or get in trouble. Very stupid rules and they should be changed soon. ^_^

Because we don't want to. It's our right. We don't have to say jack sh.t if we don't want.

You're forced to say it. Since it includes "One nation under God", it takes away people's freedom to believe whatever they choose. So, technically, it is un-Patriotic, as it infringes on your rights and freedom as an American.
