i dont think believing in something because its the easy way out is blindness or faith i think it is ignorance.

I actually think believing in religion is the harder way because of the fact that you have to go to church and do all that nonsense. All i have to do is sit here and debate.

its greek.
It's still the architecture the Romans used, anyway, the point is not the architecture.

All of America's forefathers were very much obsessed with Roman culture and literature. Almost all of them knew Latin and read them for themselves. Benjamin Franklin was actually embarassed that he didn't know Latin unlike the others, because there were English translations of some of the classics, but not many.

The point is, though, that our government is HIGHLY influenced by Rome, or at least it was at its beginning.

someone else already quoted this.. but if our church and state are separated.. how come homosexuals can't get married and most of the states?

Note: i'm not a homosexual.

There is nothing about seperating church and voters, or church and politicians.

I think it should be seperate there, too. I don't want some sort of anti-pork legislation because I'm Jewish. Why should some Christians make a fuss about homosexuals? They do no harm in being homosexual.

Wow I never realized how close church and state actually were. I guess when you are Catholic its hard to see since a lot of other people are Catholic also.

I almost want to refuse to say the pledge because I don't give my allegiance to America, and if there's a draft, I'm f..king going to Canada.

I like arguing with the teachers about why you don't stand up and say the pledge with everyone else!

If they asked me why I didn't...I usually gave them an educated response involving the fact that our government does NOT seek the allegiance of the people behind it's actions...and if it did...I wouldn't give it mine, because they are theiving, turn-coated bastards...........not providers for the people.
If they asked me to stand...I would stand up...stare at the floor...hands behind my back...and pretend to pray or do something other than say the pledge.

It always gave me a reason to go to class.

As for church and state...there is no doubt in my mind that this should be separated. Why?
Because...eventhough my group (the Christians) are supposedly the ones in power.......I don't think that a government and a religious sector have anything in common. Religion is trying to reach the moral supremity of reaching an acceptable afterlife. Governments are trying to keep society organized and safe.

Since both of those terms obviously have different goals in mind......if you combine the two....you end up getting a regressive type of government...where the powers that be are more concerned with the moral fiber of it's own citizens than the international affairs, or equality laws that the they SHOULD be worried about.

Governments are for society, and it's progression.
Religion is for the individual, and it's progression (respective to each religion).

Balancing those powers in one, unifed body is impossible...so they need to be separated.

DISCUSSION:
1. Although I have to say that most of our moral fibers...I agree with, because I am a Christian....I feel that a LOT of our laws are NOT very Christian-like....and end up acting as a counterproductive measure to other laws that are in place, because the two are too closely linked.

2. I don't pledge allegiance to a country that won't pledge it's allegiance to me.

3. 2 of my non-Christian beliefs for the government are:
-The Equalization of Gay-Rights...and their right to marriage/union.
-The Legalization of Marijuana, and it's harmlessness considered vs. that of Alcohol, Cigarettes, and Prescription Drugs.

I believe that if the government would separate itself from the Christian hipocrits that feel the need to contradict themselves and their beliefs in office by making laws (and refusing to correct previous laws) that do nothing but take away from our priorities and/or promote inefficient use of the government's powers, then we could, in fact, become the best nation in the world.
