Posts: 762   | I would like to share with you all a story about my high school and how they changed the name of it because of religion. http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/08/2...ore/index.html Me and around 9/10 of my school did not support this change. It was only a handful of people not an entire "audience" as the article suggests. The student council here at my school did a survey of the entire school on weather or not to change the nickname and i think the vote came back 89% voting no. Almost the whole school board was made up of devote christians and i was EXTREMELY saddened by this change aswell as angry. The school boycotted and tried to get another vote but the school board refused. Nobody but the handful of people wanted this name change and the entire town got to suffer. The same group also tried to get the name of the town changed from Devils Lake to something else. That was shot down right away thankfully. We are now known as the Devils Lake Firebirds, but i would rather have satans. Please give your comments on this change and tell me if you would want this to happen to your school.

Posts: 101 | That's a bit ridiculous. There's even a hockey team called the Devils. Don't take it too hard though, high school sports are boring. At least you don't have a generic name like "The Bobcats" or "The Cougars." | |||||

Posts: 251  | I would understand why you would be unhappy with the change. My school has alot of traditions aswell and i would be unhappy if they changed traditions at my school. I do knid of think Satans is a little overboard, Devils would be alot more appropriot and it is still a little close to "Satans"
