Just wanted to share a brief conversation my mom and I had about religion in the car today.

She told me that she was best friends with a girl when they both attended Virginia Wesleyan University. Her friend's father was the leading surgeon at Sentara General and performed one of the first heart transplants on the Eastern Coast. My mom then told me about a conversation she had with her friends father over dinner at her house.

He told her that although his profession required a vast knowledge of science, he began to believe in God when he performed the heart transplant that he had become famous for. Once the heart was put in the body, and everything was connected and in place, all it took for the motionless, lifeless heart to start beating was a flick of the thumb... and the blood was circulating through the patient's body within seconds.

That story made me think for a few seconds, so I just wanted to share it with you guys. I'm pretty sure those who don't believe in God will rip it to shreds within seconds, but that's what I want; so that I can share your guys' opinions with my mom.

That could be taken as a miracle of nature or a miracle of God. It all depends on how you spin it.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Her friend's father chose to spin it as a miracle of God, but I can see how it could be taken both ways.

It's incredible sometimes, whether you believe it or not, how things happen sometimes. Sometimes they can really open your eyes and ask you to take a look around.

Yeah, when she told me that story, it definetely made me think about things... I didn't really know whether to believe her at the time.

That is kind of how the idea of creation can be viewed too.

im not religious, but it is pretty amazing what doctors can do and todays medicine can do, and it does make u think.

Thats a pretty good anecdote. But Cursed Lemon brought up a good point to defend his Atheism...You could take it as a miracle or god or nature.
