Posts: 4,919 | Ok, so I was in AP Psychology today, reading through some of the material in our class book. I came along a section about destiny and believing in your mind. So I continued to read. I came to a part where it asks you a question regarding Destiny. Depending on how you answer this question, tells whether you believe in Destiny or not.
Now, for a very rough repeat of that question, I will try my best to explain it the best I can.
Ok. This is taking place in present time. Now assume that there is some sort of a higher being, whether it be God, or not. Imagine yourself in a room very close to that of a Psychiatric Nurse's room. The one's with the fancy couches you sit on while you explain your problems to your shrink.
Now this person, whom you are talking to, symbolizing God. She (Whether it be a man or a women, I will say She.) is correct nearly 99.9% of the time when judging a person's character. She knows how one is feeling, and she knows what they will choose when put in front of a decision. She has never been outsmarted or outwitted. And you, as the person in this room, know this. You talk to this lady for 1 hour before moving on to the next step.
Now imagine yourself in a closed room, standing in front of a desk, with this lady who symbolizes God behind it. On this desk, are two boxes. One box is clear, the other one is solid. In the clear box is 10,000 dollars. And you can clearly see this, so you know without a doubt there is in fact, 10,000 dollars in that box. In the other box (The solid one.), there can be either 1 Million dollars, or nothing.
Now this lady asks you to pick one of these two decisions: A. You can take both the boxes, or B. you can take only the Solid Box. (The one with either 1 Million in it, or nothing.)
Now here's the catch. You do NOT know what she has done to the solid box. She has either put 1 million dollars in the box. Or she has put nothing in it. You do NOT know this. So if you do pick option A. You are guaranteed at least 10,000 dollars. If you pick option B. you aren't guaranteed anything.
Now let me jump back in here for a second. You MUST realize, that the lady conducting this experiment is NEVER wrong on knowing what a person will choose. Therefore, no matter how much you try to outsmart her, she will know which box you will ultimately choose. (That is why she talked to you for an hour before entering this room.)
Back to the room. She now asks you to pick either option A. or option B. Which one would you choose? And remember. She KNOWS which one you will choose. She KNOWS if it will be A, or B. So take that into consideration.
Now keep true to your answer. Don't change it after you read this, and I'll explain what this has to do with destiny.
If you chose B. you believe in Destiny. And here is why.
The lady knew what you would choose, before you did so. Therefore, she put one million dollars in the solid box. She knew you would pick option B, and for taking that chance/risk she rewarded you with one million dollars.
If you picked A, you didn't trust in the lady. You were not sure of the one million dollars, and you had the mindset going in, that you would be getting 10,000 dollars no matter what. The lady KNOWS this, so she purposely put nothing in the solid box.
Therefore, if you took the risk, and believed in destiny, you were rewarded with one million dollars. If you did not choose B, and chose A, both the boxes, you would be rewarded with only 10,000 dollars.
I know I'll be editing this over and over again, because this is still one of the most mind exhausting things I can ever think of, but please, bare with me.
Thanks for reading.
