I think God does reward those that trust in him. Pretty interesting thing to think about, though.

I probably would have taken B, but really only because of probability without the woman's input. 50/50 chance of a 100/1 profit.

I'm...really not sure what the point of this theory is. Why would the lady put nothing in the box if you chose option A? That's a conscious decision to punish those who don't believe in something totally irrelevant, destiny. Besides, what if your "destiny" was to choose B, and there was nothing in the box?

yea, i agree. plus(i know we aren't necessarily talking about the Christian God) why would any caring supernatural being, who wants you to learn to become a better overall person, want you to be greedy? i chose A because i was content with having 10 grand, and didn't need nothing more nor want to risk it. the decision on choosing B is imo totally based off of greed, i mean, hell, some channel even made a TV show about this type of situation rightly titled Greed.
mayb i should just wait for you to get to the rest of your explanation...

Enjoyable read indeed.

I choose A at first but then the more i thought about i wanted to take the risk, not for the greed of having all the money but i wanted to trust her even though it was a everything or nothing situation.

I am very aposed to the idea that I am not truly in control of myself. I believe you create your own destiny, regardless of how predetermined it may be.

The thought has quite a visible effect on me. One of the things you'd notice if you saw me would be my tendancy to never walk in a straight line. That developed from thought experiments on destiny and stuff like that. If everything is preordained, then even the act of questioning it, or even doing nothing out of protest would all be in accordance with destiny.

The one thing you can know beyond reasonable doubt is that you do have atleast some influence on things. I've noticed that you can do quite a lot without paying any attention to things. You can fall into a rythem where your brain practically automates tasks. Every once in a while, I like make some random movement, or do something differently, if only to assure myself that I am in control, even if it is only a tiny bit.

I'll edit later... Playin' Generals with my peeps

So I have another question then.

Can there be a destiny, without a higher being? Can you actually have a set path? If so, how would anyone know you do or you don't?

I am agnostic, and I actually answered B on this question. Now whether or not that show I am a "Christian who believes in Destiny" or not, I am still undecided. Afterall, it's just a story.

Of course you are totally truly in control of yourself...

from your perspective.

And that's all that's really important to you. But ultimately you have no control.

Of course. I would assume that a large amount of atheists believe in destiny. If you assume that when it comes down to it, we are purely mechanical, then everything is already set in stone. Then there's that weird quantum stuff, but I know little about that.
