the entire country runs on (basically) a christian belief system, eg. all the holidays to take work off are usually christian holidays, and not, say, muslim or buddhist. this country was made by christians and is still run by them. that being said, not the whole country is the same religion or celebrates the same things but that doesnt mean they should take weeks off for a different holiday when there is a convienent hole in the schedule anyways.

Pagan involvement in gift-giving is about as relevant as Lucifer's name in "LaVeyan SATANism".

That said, where the heck did the idea come from that Jesus' birthday implied gift-giving?

lol, the wise men traveled a great distance to find the son of God and give him gifts because the knew it was God just to show thanks and their service to the Lord.
