and i just wanted to know...cause i want to change my religion cause i dont really belive everything my parents do

im not going to be athiest i am going to be Agnostic theism.the view of those who do not claim to know God's existence, but still believe in such an existence

Practicing beliefs does not make you a part of the belief system... It just means that you practice a certain belief of that belief system.

In this instance, Christmas was originated by the pagan belief system. You celebrate Christmas. You practice a pagan belief. It's a fairly simple concept.

Let's say hypothetically that you meditate, but you're not Buddhist. Does you not being Buddhist make meditation not a Buddhist practice? No. Just because you're not in a particular belief system doesn't mean that the beliefs you practice aren't apart of a different belief system.

You have a point there, but let's say there's a new religion called the Church of Rising Starlight. The Church of Rising Starlight collects Pokemon cards. Let's say Jimmy collects Pokemon cards. Does Jimmy practice Church of Rising Starlight beliefs when he collects Pokemon cards?

Yes. That doesn't make him a member of that belief system and whether or not he acknowledges it, he is practicing their beliefs.

Christians don't acknowledge those beliefs as pagan, as they are not part of that belief system. Therefore, giving gifts on Christmas is a perfectly acceptable behavior for them, as long as they aren't trying to be pagan.

I'm Agnostic, but my family celebrates Christmas so I just join in for the fun, food, and presents. I just see it as an oppurtunity to be close with family and stuff like that, besides, Jesus wasn't even born on Christmas.

I never stated that it was unacceptable. I merely said that you were practicing a pagan belief. Christianity took a pagan holiday and changed it up a bit. As I previously said, whether or not you acknowledge it as a pagan belief, you are still practicing it.

It's a matter of perspective. All spiderman was saying was "I'm not a pagan, stfu."

lol well I knew that. Hehe.

I'm just saying that Christmas is still based of pagan beliefs. He is still practicing a pagan belief whether he is pagan or not.
