Ok, that's a decent explanation for why you believe what you believe. I'll tell you what I think about believing though, and since I can't explain it any better, I'll give you a quote:

I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant.

Ever since I heard Chris Rock's character Rufus say that in Dogma, my opinion on religion changed for the better. I have had several ideas about where the world came from and how we came about and so on. Recently I've been watching "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and in it a completely resonable, although entirely improbable, explanation is given on the origin of the earth. I'll leave it to you to go see the movie because the specifics aren't important. If I was a super devoted Christian, I might find the very idea presented offensive which is what happens to a lot of movies, books, TV shows etc, when they present ideology or viewpoints that deviate from a popular religion.
It sickens me when I see some overzealous nut on TV calling for the banning of a movie or book because it's "evil" or doesn't conform to his or her religion. If someone came up to me and tried to tell me not to see a movie based on religious reasons I'd be hard pressed to not punch them in the face because they are lost to me in terms of being able to understand why I don't care about their beliefs and why they don't factor into my decision making. But I'll stop now cause I'm starting to ramble.
