| | Taken word for word from Spinoza because I think he puts it in simple terms. "God or substance consisting of infinite attributes, of which each expresses eternal and infinite essentially, necessarily exists" Basically God has infinite attributes and existence is one of them. If you say he doesn't exist then you aren't talking about God because he necessarily encompasses all attributes.I realize there are several arguments against this argument but there are several versions of this argument to be dealt with. It also differs from any causal argument because it relies purely on reason. NG or Cursed will probably be putting down the rebuttals but I want to put this out there.

| | This is elementary stuff; you're better than this. The only difference between thinking conceptually about something and thinking of it existing is that when an object exists it corresponds to something we can observe. Existing or not doesn't change what you're conceiving of.

And Davo is right, existence isn't a quality. First of all, to label existence a quality would mean that to not exist is also a quality, and a thing that doesn't exist cannot have qualities. It is through the act of existence that a thing can be DEFINED by its qualities.

| | Why is it such a big deal to type "god" for you? | |||||

| | The argument is self defeating. It doesn't actually prove the existence of god. It gives him, if he exists, a set of attributes, yet doesn't actually prove his existence. I prefer the argument of continent and incontinent beings.
