- I accept evolution, I don't agree with alot of it, but I have taken classes dealing with it and I think that as a scientific way of looking at how life came about, it is a very well thought-out possible theory.

P.s. - If 90% of our DNA is useless...Why do we have it? (I would thought evolution would have corrected that mistake over the millions of years.)

There has to be some sort of motivation for it. If it simply does nothing, it would have no effect on the fitness of the organism and would just drift.

I'm no evolutionist, but my guess is that the 90% of garbage DNA is the result of the millions of years, and evolution keeps things that are neutral. There is no mechanism in Evolution to remove my wisdom teeth because, well, they do f..k all and do not hinder my survival abilities.

EDIT: I'm sure it goes more in depth too. Like I said, I'm just a 16 year old who doesn't know a whole lot about evolution.

You asked at the beginning, why one might choose atheism. I like you, was brought up in a Christian family, going to Church on Sunday was a given, and I thought nothing of it.
I Accepted Christianity because its what I had been brought up to believe in, as fact, not as a religion. at about 14-15, I began questioning Christianity, and the Bible. I read Science books on topics like evolution, the beginning on the universe, and the purpose of man. Stephen Hawking's 'A Brief History Of Time' is an excellent book, to say it was interesting would be an understatement.
After becoming slightly more informed on evolution and the universe, The preaches I had been hearing now seemed very presumptuous and uninformed. How can I accept that the universe was built in 7 days by an omnipotent deity that damns humans to eternal suffering for the simple reason that they had not heard of "Him", when there is an explainable theory of the Big Bang, which complies with the rules of science?

Too much of the Bible doesn't add up with reliable fact to be believable. Christians put it down to faith, that you need faith for Christianity to work. This is a reason to doubt Christianity, It is illogical. You have to assume God is real for the religion to operate.
I did, anyway. When I was younger, I completely believed in God, without proof, for years. If it is the same for you, I ask you to question that faith, why do you believe in God? Can you explain it in a logical way, with evidence and rational thought? I couldn't, so I dropped the religion.
