| | Which category would you consider yourself to fall under, in the question of your views on the existance of God. 1. Strong theist. 100 per cent probability of God. In the words of C. G. Jung, 'I do not believe, I know.' 2. Very high probability but short of 100 per cent. De facto theist. 'I cannot know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there.' 3. Higher than 50 per cent but not very high. Technically agnostic but leaning towards theism. 'I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God.' 4. Exactly 50 per cent. Completely impartial agnositc. 'God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable.' 5. Lower than 50 per cent but not very low. Technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism. 'I don't know whether God exists but I'm inclined to be sceptical.' 6. Very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist. 'I cannot know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there.' 7. Strong athiest. 'I know there is no God, with the same conviction as Jung "knows" there is no one.' I was raised to live around the level of 2, which I was, until about 4 or 5 years ago, when I entered a public school after going to a Catholic grade school my whole life. I would say that I am now a 5, maybe even flirting with the line to 6. This list was taken from Richard Dawkins' "A God Delusion", which also inspired my question. | | Also, another good point that Dawkins made is the comparison of the amount of people in both extremes of the list. Possibly, you could say that no one falls under a 7, because no one knows for a fact that God does not exist. But then agian, many people would categorize themselves as a 1, even though it is not a fact that God exists. NG : How long would you say that you have been a "6.5"? | |||||

| | #4, I'm just human, knowing or not knowing about something like god confuses me a lot. I'd like to believe there is something greater but I can't say there is or isn't such a thing as god -Vick | |||||

| | I'm a de facto atheist, but the more I think about it, there has to be some type of God, but definitely not any of the ones worshiped today. Matter doesn't just come from nowhere, and neither do the laws of physics, they had to be designed. My answer is that I live my life as if there is no God. What's the worst that could happen?
