now, I am not someone who is AGAINST the bible...but I think that people need to realize this book was written in a very different time. You can't take its content too seriously, because a lot of it isn't applicable today.

It sure seems easy for Christians to go back to the old testament when quoting leviticus 18:22, with the ever popular "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination".

This is why people call Christians hypocrites.

Like I said earlier The Old Testament is more of parables and stories rather then scripture that represents what christiantity is. It's more of old rules and teachings and explains the history of Jesus and other things. Either way adultry is looked upon as a abomination in society today.

Either way both of these things are looked down upon in the Christian world and using something from the Old Testament doens't make people hypocrites. Yeah there was violence in the Bible but most of the people trying to use that aganist Christianity are just probably skimming for the words kill and death and then quoting it to say Christianity encourages violence when they don't even know what it means.

Ah, but you see, those beliefs effect us. Those beliefs include the belief that it should be spread to nonbelievers. They also find their way into politics when politicians want to gain more votes. They can simply tap a large source of people who will swallow anything they say.

That's one of my main problems with Christianity. It favors acceptance over questioning.

Yes those beliefs should be spread to non-believers but its the non-believers choice. No one is forcing it on you. You have a choice. They also find there way into politics because the US was founded upon Christian values and morals so of course it is going to be apart of todays goverment whether people want it or not. I mean heck 90% of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were open Christians.
