"A couple of reports by Chinese site Expreview shed more light on the purported graphics card. The first report lists detailed specifications for the 9800 GTX. Supposedly, the card will run at 675MHz with a 1688MHz shader clock and 512MB of GDDR3 memory running at 1100MHz. That's up from a 650MHz core speed, 1625MHz shader speed, and 970MHz memory speed for the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB. The same site also claims the 9800 GTX will feature the same cooler as the 8800 GTS 512MB."

Not as good as we all thought. I guess their hardening the blow for the next (presumably G100) major advance.

Yeah, I posted this last night in a different thread.

http://www.halo3forum.com/tech-suppo...ase-dates.html

Anyway, like I've been saying, the 9800s are a joke. Definitely NOT worth the upgrade when you can just buy an 8800GT or GTS that will be the same thing.

I litterally just saw that in the post you just made.

8800GTS (G92) overclocked will be faster than this thing stock... You could do a 5% overclock, and still be running at the same speed.

Its pathetic. I hope their doing this so that the NEXT series (whatever it will be) will be SO MUCH faster, that everyone will be willing to pay ~$400 for a card. Kinda like the 8800GTS when it was launched.

Yeah, that score is really pathetic. No idea what the hell nVidia was thinking when they came up with this design. I'm so pissed that I didn't buy an 8800GTX a year ago. I've had this x1900XTX in hopes that these 9 series would be ultimate domination. I haven't been able to be taken seriously in video card benching for the last year and a half. Companies and people are so caught up in their next billion dollars that they don't even know whats good for technology and this community anymore.

Then what are you going to do now? Are you going to spend the money and get a GTS 512, or wait it out until a real advance happens?

I'm going to wait until April to see what happens. My birthday is that month so I'll definitely get a new GPU then. Will probably end up buying a cheap 8800GT or GTS. Although I am still going to cross my fingers and hope that all this is some kind of terrible, cruel, joke.
