Posts: 1,033 | 10/9/08 New website DL link thanks to robyniscool http://alldj.org/index.php Mostly house, but there's some trance and electronica as well. 5/27/08 added my favorite Paul Oakenfold set. In 1999, Paul Oakenfold was THE man for trance. He gets credit for popularizing trance. In 1999 he went on a killer world tour (well, half of it was in the UK but still) and played 12 of the most amazing sets ever. The 6th is my favorite, as well as a few people I used to play Halo with. I never listened to Oakenfold until 2002 and hated everything he has done since. It's kind of sad when you hear one of his new mixes and the only time you hear the crowd is when he plays a track from nearly a decade ago. Finally someone posted all 12 of these mixes and I realized why this guy still gets attention. IMO it's got the best version of Lizard ever spun, it would make an amazing track for a trailer if anyone actually cared about Halo anymore. Paul Oakenfold - Live at Gatecrasher Lotherton Hall, Leeds, England (1999-06-19) Essential Mix World Tour 1999 on Radio 1 01. Planet Perfecto feat. Grace - It's Not Over Yet '99 (Breeder's It is Now Remix) 02. Space Manoeuvres - Stage One (Tilt's Apollo 11 Mix) 03. AMbassador - The Fade (Fade Mix) 04. Mara - One (Hamel's Implant Remix) 05. Space Brothers - Forgiven (Origin Mix) 06. Mauro Picotto - Lizard 07. Jon Vesta - Gull 08. Tekknova - Last Trip To Paradise 09. Art of Trance - Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix) 10. Push - Universal Nation (Ferry Corsten Remix) 11. Olmec Heads - Spritualized (Astral Mix) 12. Space Brothers - Heaven Will Come (Olmec Heads Vocal Dub) 13. CJ Bolland - The Prophet http://files.filefront.com/00+06+Pau.../fileinfo.html 5/27/08 added my favorite Tiesto set of all time. This set is extremely old school and is unlike what you hear from him today (Britney Spears, Seal, Pirates of the Caribbean, blah no thanks) This set is short and sweet. It's interesting because I downloaded this mix in 2000 and was relatively unimpressed despite how much I had heard about it. I randomly came back to it about a year ago and was just blown away. The track selection is unreal! Also, the 6th track is something really unique and creative, brilliant IMO. Other than that track, every track here is without a doubt a classic trance track that's been played numerous times. I can't believe how much Tiesto has changed, and I felt inspired to post this after just hearing In Search of Sunrise 7 and being extremely let down. DJ Tiësto - Live at Hyperstate Oslo Spektrum (Oslo, Norway): May 8, 1999 01. DJ Tiësto - Theme From Norefjell (DJ Tiësto’s Magikal Remake) 02. Push – Universal Nation (DuMonde Remix) 03. Armin – Communication 04. Chicane ft. Maire Brennan – Saltwater 05. Plastic Boy – Twixt 06. Silent Harmony - Save The Whales (Club Mix) 07. Mauro Picotto - Lizard (Megavoices Mix) 08. Gouryella - Gouryella 09. Vimana - We Came http://files.filefront.com/Tiesto+Li.../fileinfo.html 5/26/08 added some more stuff, made some changes. Tried to find my best version of Cloudwalking, but the file gets screwy ONLY where that song is in the mix. Of course I can't render it out. On the plus side, I added my favorite PVD set of all time. WARNING: If you feel DJ Tiesto is the greatest DJ in the world, I would highly recommend not listening to this set. In 2000-2001 when I was finishing high school, I got into trance and fell in love with Tiesto. To me, no one was second. Just by chance, I found out about tranceaddict.com the day after this set was made. It was the highest rated (by a large margin, even over a Tiesto set I loved) so I figured I'd give it a go. It's one of those sets that just takes you on a journey. Unique tracks, and really good ones at that. No cookie cutter overplayed crap here, although a few tracks here would later get played a lot for good reason. A good build up, lots of energy, some good vocals, some of everything, all to the highest quality. It also (IMO) has the greatest EVER finishing track. It should sound very familiar. Legendary track and as far as I know it's the first time it was spun. Huge build up, then just an explosion of energy. I spent my entire spring semester with this set on repeat, I'm not exaggerating at all. Unlimited internet cookies to anyone who names the track in here that was featured in a movie, AND names the movie. Rosenmontags Rave (11-02-2002) 01. Junk Project - The Green Series (A1) 02. Trancesetters - The Saga (Original Mix) 03. Ferry Corsten - Punk (Original Dub) 04. Alvin Dorsey & Nick Petrel - K (Original Mix) 05. The Space Brothers - Everywhere I Go (Paul van Dyk Rework Re-Edit) 06. Solid Sleep - Club Attack (TPOD Mix By Paul van Dyk) 07. Romanthony - Never f..k (Paul van Dyk's Late Night Club Mix) 08. Roger Goode - In The Begining (Ferry Corsten Remix) 09. Avanza - Take Control (Original Dub Mix) 10. Blank & Jones - Desire (4 Strings Remix) 11. Aquanuts - Deep Sea (Martin Eyerer Remix) 12. Roland Klinkenberg & Danny Bakker - Keep On Rockin' 13. Green Velvet - La La Land (Thomas Krome Remix) 14. Members Of Mayday - Sonic Empire (Jan Driver Remix) 15. Starsplash - China Lounge 16. Bill Hamel - Perspectives (Expansion Remix) 17. Ayumi Hamasaki - Unite (Airwave Dub) 18. BK & Nick Sentience - Flash (Original Mix) 19. Paul van Dyk - Animacion 20. Ayumi Hamasaki - M (Above & Beyond's Typhoon Dub) 21. Kosheen - Catch (Hiver & Hammer Remix) 22. Guardians Of Earth - Starchildren (Paul van Dyk Rework) 23. 4 Strings - Into The Night (Original Mix) 24. Nu NRG - Dreamland http://files.filefront.com/Paul+Van+.../fileinfo.html 4/18/08 Added one Paul Van Dyk's classic sets, Cream Closing Party 2003. Simply an amazing set, the only track I don't like is Andain - Beautiful Things. I won't even bother putting the tracks I like in bold, almost the entire thing will be bold if I do that. He's basically invincible for the first 50 or so minutes... 01. Marcos - Red Bullet (Musikman Remix) 02. Terry Bones vs Fred Baker - Introspection (John Askew Remix) (Paul van Dyk Cut) 03. Inzite - Spellbound 04. Paul van Dyk feat. Vega 4 - Time of Our Lives (Paul van Dyk Club Mix) 05. Nick Lunn & Y.O.M.C. pres. Tecno-Punk - Energize (Paul van Dyk Edit) 06. Chicane feat. Maire Brennan Of Clannad - Saltwater (Tomski vs Disco Citizens Mix) 07. Agnelli & Nelson feat. Aureas - Holding Onto Nothing (Original Paul van Dyk Edit) 08. Modulation - Spirits (Cosmicman Remix) 09. Jaron Inc. - Overflow (Original Mix) 10. Nu NRG - Connective 11. Paul van Dyk feat. Second Sun - Crush (Album Mix) 12. Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Sweeping Strings Remix) 13. Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden’s Unplugged Mix) 14. Kim Sanders - Food For Thought (Humate's Pop Dub) 15. FatBoy Slim - Star 69 (X-Press 2 Wine Em Dine Em Remix) 16. Marcel Woods - Time Is Running Out 17. 4 Strings - Revelation 18. Planet Perfecto - Bullet in The Gun (Instrumental) 19. Tiesto - Traffic (Original Mix) 20. Reeloop - f..king Society (Instrumental) 21. Paul van Dyk vs Marco V - For A Revolt 22. Mat Silver Vs Tony Burt - Ultimate Wave (Paul van Dyk Rework) 23. Walter & Gelder - Seven Of Nine (Paul van Dyk Rework) 24. Emmanuel Top - Turkish Bazar (Reeloop Remix) http://files.filefront.com/01+paul+v.../fileinfo.html 2/09/08 Added this song. It's like listening to crack. http://files.filefront.com/Tasadi+Ti.../fileinfo.html Xmas update... my favorite mix of 2007. DJ Madwave's Synergy 2007. Blame him for that killer song you heard in my 4th montage. Tracklist: (bold are my favorites, yeah there's a lotta bold) 01 Dj Madwave pres. Synergy - The Anthem 2007 (Dj Madwave mix) 02 Dj Matto - Angels Fly (Blitzfaktor mix) 03 Technikal pres. Fl p - System Overload 04 Dj Dean - Teknika (Original) 05 Comiccon - Komodo 2007 06 Electronative - For You (Original mix) 07 Synthetic feat. Tom Nakamura - Science Fiction (Original mix) 08 P.H.A.T.T. & Jennie Rix - Eternal (Instrumental mix) 09 Enjoy vs Punisher - Illusions (Club mix) 10 Nish - Sagittarius (Alphazone remix) 11 Flarup - Learn As You Listen (Blitzfaktor remix) 12 Italian Playboys - Storia Di Musica (Jon the Baptist remix) 13 Dj Space Raven - To The One We Lost (Original mix) 14 Michael Tskukerman - Are You Mad ? (Dj Madwave remix) 15 Travis Baxter - Heaven and Earth (Original mix) 16 Dj Virens - Eternity (Wavetraxx remix) 17 Dj Sylas - Final Riot (Original mix) I thought 2006 was the worst year for trance, almost nothing came from it that I enjoyed. Luckily, 2007 has changed for me. A good level of energy and some catchy tracks made this one my favorite. Also, not only did I like the tracks played, but most are relatively unknown (not overplayed). http://files.filefront.com/101+va+sy.../fileinfo.html ORIGINAL POST: This is a thread I am making to give as much information I can about trance musiK, which is what I almost exclusively listen to. I also listen to house, which is somewhat similar but not entirely. Trance is not techno, they are different. Techno is mario brothers and the other cheesy stuff you find on limewire if you search for techno. Trance is more uplifting and more repetitive. Trance has more complexity. Not to say techno is bad, but it is absolutely different. The best way to describe house is that it usually has electronic beats but at a slower pace, similar to rap. There is a LOT more to trance than Sandstorm, DJ Sammy's Heaven and Zombie Nation. I am not trying to imply that trance is the best form of musiK or that you should listen to it. But a lot of people have asked the same questions and I'm tired of saying the same answers. It may be worth noting that no one cares about trance downloads as the livesets aren't copyrighted. Same deal with radio shows unless it's a pay site, and even then no one cares. I have 1000 gigs of the stuff and have never had a problem ever. Both trance and house have many different varieties and subcategories. There is hard trance, progressive trance, and regular trance. There's more I'm sure. Same deal with house, but it's more like deep house, funky house and progressive house. Unlike other forms of musiK, trance and house is MUCH better live. Singles and CDs are almost always worse than a live version. There are a few different kinds of live versions of it. Livesets are shows where the DJ does his/her thing and there is often crowd noise in the set adding to the energy (my 4th montage is a good example). There are also premade mixes, which usually are on radio shows. They may not have the crowd noise, but they almost always have more energy than a CD you buy/DL. The sound quality is usually higher here than a liveset. The ultimate is finding a liveset with amazing sound quality, like PVD's Cream Amnesia 2003. If you want trance to listen to on the internet, there are two good sites. www.di.fm has a large variety of genres and is easy to listen to. My cousin who used to listen to rock songs listened to them for a while. The other radio site worth checking out is http://www.etn.fm which is much more cookie cutter trance. More uplifting and melodic, not a ton of energy. The best sites I use to download trance are these. www.tranceaddict.com (--> new tracks --> livesets) This site has the best forum for trance. The site design is horribly outdated, but the forumers know everything. The livesets section is updated very rarely but has some worthwhile stuff, mainly: Paul van Dyk - 15 Jahre Maximal @ Club U60311 (05-13-05) Paul van Dyk - Live at Energy 2003 (08-10-03) Chicane - Live from Palladium (01-22-00) Paul Van Dyk - Live at Cream@Amnesia Ibiza (08-16-02) NU NRG - Live at Orgasmatron (09-07-02) Paul Van Dyk - Essential Mix Live at Columbiahalle (07-14-02) A site I used to use constantly was www.djmixes2k.com but they have been very slow with updates lately. The bit torrent section is worth checking out though. EDIT: Looks like this site died. Luckily thanks to Wowee 22 there's another site that's similar. http://www.djmixes.us/ Newer stuff, I saw some PVD as well as their own podcasts. I haven't downloaded much, but it looks like you have to download very quickly before the files go offline. Definitely worth checking out though. If you know nothing about bit torrent, google for Azureus. It's a download program. (there are no bugs, viruses, ads, etc) From there you can download and run torrents, which is the format for a lot of the musiK since that takes up MUCH less bandwidth. Make sure to keep a good ratio. The site I use almost primarily (and it's private sign ups) is www.trancetraffic.com. It has anything and everything and it's all in bit torrent format. You really have to know what you're doing here though. Don't ask me for help in joining. If you want to use filesharing, the best program (and it's totally clean, no ads, viruses, web bars, etc) is Soulseek. slsknet.org. Of course, you have to know what you're searching for. It's 1000x better than Limewire or Kazaa. If you run a search on limewire or kazaa you will find the same misnamed files 100x over and nothing below. If you search Soulseek every day you will DEFINITELY find everything I have below. Here is a list of DJs I like to listen to as well as some of the other big names. Most of the stuff here is my opinion. I definitely left out MANY, but again.. my post, my opinion. Paul Van Dyk (PVD) - Possibly my favorite DJ of all time. The energy and catchy tunes he brings to his sets is amazing. Same with his remixes. IMO his golden years were 2002-4. Be sure to get his Cream Amnesia sets including the 2002 one above. The 2003 one is sick. Einslive 10-3-2003 and Rosenmontag's Rave 2-11-2002 are both incredible. Same with everything above from tranceaddict. PVD is about the energy. To many, this man is god. He is the current #1 rated DJ in the world. Most trance spins at 60 beats per minute (BPM) but in 2003 he had several mixes at 100. Download Einslive and be taken away. I listened to only the Rosenmontag's Rave set for 4 months straight. Do I need to say more? DJ Tiesto - Another well known DJ. His tunes are more catchy and slightly more progressive. His mixes are slower and less intense, but often very good. I highly prefer his older mixes, but some of his new stuff is good too. 2004 and 2001 and earlier are my favorite years from him. Be sure to get his tranceairwaves set from May of 2004 as well as his old ones like Samfunde Trondheim in 2000, Hyperstate and Energy in 2000/1. Innercity Amsterdam 1999 is classic stuff and very easy to find. He also has some good CDs, In Search of Sunrise 1 is legendary, and the MagiK series is very good too. ISOS is very relaxing, the MagiK stuff is a style of trance rarely heard anymore. He was voted #1 in 2002-4. Don't miss either of his Dutch Dimensions (2001 and 2002) Paul Oakenfold (PO) - The man that started it all. This was the guy that put trance on the map. I am not a fan of any of his newer mixes, but his entire 1999 Trance around the World set collection (12 total) are legendary. I'm pretty sure he was DJ of the year every year before Tiesto. Like Tiesto, he sold out and there (IMO) has been a decline in his quality. Way Out West (WoW) - In the trance world, there is only one WoW, and it aint Warcraft. These guys are a progressive house team. Very very relaxing and soothing stuff. It might be hard to enjoy at first, but if you are sick in bed some of their stuff is gold. Some of their other stuff (like Killa) can get your blood pumping. Nick Warren's (who is part of Wow) Spring 2004 promo mix is sick. Again, anything 2004 FTW. DJ Elusive - My current favorite for progressive house. Much more experimental sounds, but whenever his tracks get this epic feel they are amazing. He has a monthly radio show called Oslo Nights and some of the mixes there are amazing. It's not an easy style to pick up, but once you can appreciate it, it'll blow your mind. I'd suggest his Dec 2002 Oslo Nights Pre Premiere mix as well as Oct 2003, May 2004 and Feb 2005. The only one I couldn't listen to was Dec 2006. Almost every set has something in it that'll blow your mind. If you want something weirder, check out the stuff from someone else on Oslo Nights, Likwit. I can't stand it, but he has a cult following. Hernan Cattaneo - From South America, this is a progressive house DJ that plays some sexy beats. Your girlfriend might like it. I don't like most of his stuff, but one set he made blew my mind. Live at the Womb in Tokyo 4-14-2004 part 1. This is house at its best IMO. S.H.O.K.K. - This guy is hard trance. Bangin' tracks. You wanna bring down the house and go nuts, this is the guy. The song from my 4th montage is from one of his livesets. Anything I've heard from him is good, but Synergy 2005 is AMAZING. Amnesia 12-23-2003 is really good too. Flutlicht - If SHOKK had a brother, this is who it would be. Just as hard but also some softer and more melodic stuff from his newer mixes. Radio Oslo 12-19-2002 is one of my favorite sets of all time. Other than the second track, it is the perfect liveset. Make sure to DL the SHOKK vs Flutlicht sets and mixes, they are all impressive other than In Qontrol. The older the Flutlicht mix, the harder it is. After 2003 he has a much more experimental trance like style. It's completely different and I don't like it as much, but his 58 minute break mix from June 2004 was an experience. Alphazone - The cousin of SHOKK and Flutlicht? SHOKK and Flutlicht are Swiss hard trance, these guys are German. Any of their mixes from 2005 on are quality, and especially their compliation mixes and even their Resonate 5 CD. Their hit song is Flashback. I've almost used it in a montage 3 times now. Big build up, "back, back back... FLASH back" ... it's amazing haha. Armin Van Buuren (AVB) - A very well known and popular trance DJ. He is known for a weekly radio show called A State of Trance (ASOT). Trance addicts collect every last one, he has a few hundred. His big thing is that every show has brand new trance mixes. If you are open minded, you'll love hearing new stuff. I personally do not like him (other than the top 20 mixes he does each year, the 2006 one is probably his best) because newer doesn't mean better. Make sure to check out his ASOT shows with fancy numbers like 100, 200 and 250. Ferry Corsten - Another well known trance DJ, he is known for having uplifting beats and uplifting vocals. Some of his female lyrics tracks are really catchy if that's your kinda thing. Check out Mayday 2005 and Retrospective 2002. Nu NRG - An Italian trance duo with some very unique and uplifting productions. I used a remix of their Dreamland song in my Overkill montage (it's the first song). Absolutely download both their Orgasmatron sets from 2002 as well as 12-21-2003. One of the Orgasmatron sets is available above from tranceaddict. The first song is only played there ever... and is truly unique and amazing... think trance beat with flutes = euphoria. DJ Guy Salama - Probably the most known Psytrance DJ. Psytrance is very popular in Israel and the region around there. It's more like techno, has a very fast insane beat, loud screams and random voices from movies. It's a hard style to enjoy, but if you're feeling crazy it offers some really cool stuff. Some girls I knew loved to get high and listen to this stuff. The other big name psytrance DJs are Infected Mushroom and Alien Project. If you want a training wheels little kid version of the style, search for John 00 Fleming (j00f, or as I like to say.. garbage). Dave Seaman - A mix between trance and house. Harder style to describe other than that it's a hybrid of those two styles. I would highly suggest his April (mighta been May, the drive I have it on is giving me issues right now) 2005 set from John Digweed's radio show as well as his tel aviv mix from 11-12-2003 (part 2) Shane 54 - A trance DJ with balls. He took a lot of known songs from various genres and remixed them with a trance beat. He's credits in my 4th montage and Overkill. Just download his Exposure Festival set from 2004 and you'll hear a GOOD version of the Milkshake Song. Seriously. His newer stuff is basic trance, but his 2005 and earlier is mostly mixed songs. Timo Maas - Looking for a trance DJ that doesn't play the same stuff? His sounds are much more experimental and he is known for playing unknown songs. I usually can't get into his stuff, but I really enjoyed his mix from 3-1-2004 on Dance Department. I wouldn't bother DLing his stuff unless you are already sick of hearing the usual trance tracks. Deep Dish - DJ(s?) from NYC. Known for house, I never really got into his style even though it's fairly typical for the genre. I really liked the 'say hello' song, probably because it's much different and more uplifting than most of the stuff. But what about Dogzilla? Dogzilla aka Simon Patterson is a producer who is known for the tracks in my Megamix montage. He doesn't make a lot of livesets but he has a few. They are quality though. I hope this posting helped. Feel free to add comments or big DJs I forgot. If this thread gets popular (which I highly doubt) I could post a trance mix up on megaupload once a week or something.
