If people dont have VLC Media Player, they wont be able to play the file, so theres a lost viewer right there.
Also, If you are using it to compress clips to edit(as opposed to using for the final cut of the video), when you edit with them, they will lag the program, extremely. I have had too much experience with this because I compressed all my clips to 264, because it was virtually no loss, but WAY less space. Later I found out that I would have to preload every single damn frame. Made editing for a few projects quite a b..ch.
But yeah, for the final export, I think 264 is the best bet. |
You are doing something wrong. It's not H.264's fault that it lags the editing program. It's you... or the program.
low strife: Huffyuv would use about the same CPU usage as H.264 when decoding, and Lagarith would be even more.
Also, don't use the Insane profiles and it won't take 18 hours for 11 minutes :P
