People are always asking me how I get such good quality with the Dazzle DVC100 so I thought I would make a tutorial so people would stop asking me how I do it.

Things that you will need:
  1. Dazzle Dvc100
  2. S-Video cable for the xbox360 or xbox
  3. Vdub 1.8.6
  4. Klite Codec pack
  5. MSU Fieldshiftfixer
Step 1: Capturing with Vdub
[size=5]
Ok, before you start capturing you are going to need to download the Klite Codec pack which can be found here
http://www.free-codecs.com/k_lite_Me...k_download.htm

Once you have that you can go ahead and install it.
Make sure when you install the pack that you check the box with x264 codec just scroll down and check it

Ok so now we have that out of the way we can start capturing. Open up Vdub and go to file>capture AVI once you are in the capturing screen go to the top and click on Device then select Dazzle DVC100 video device (Directshow).

After you do that go to the Video tab and select Preview. You should now see your xbox screen displayed on your monitor. Now under the video tab you should see Video source click on that and select Video SVideo. Now go to Capture pin under the video tab and chage the output to 720x480

Now go to Levels under the video tab and use these settings:
However, these are just set to my preference you can play with them and adjust them to what ever you want.

After you have done this go to the video tab and select compression. Then select this codec:

After this you can go to File and select Set capture file. Then you can finally got to Capture and select Capture video.

Step 2: Using the MSU Fieldshifter

You will need the MSU Field Shift Fixer, AVI Synth 2.5.7, and finally, VirtualDub 1.6.19.
  1. Install AVI Synth 2.5
  2. Unzip MSU Field Shift Fixer
  3. Unzip VirtualDub 1.6.19
  4. Make a folder, call it whatever, I'll use "Capture"
  5. Capture a gameplay in whatever program as AVI, and save it in the folder "Capture"
  6. Name the video whatever, I'll use "Video 1.avi"
  7. Place msu_fieldshiftfixer.dll in folded "Capture", I used version 2.5
  8. Open Notepad and paste the following text,
    Avisource("videoname.avi")
    ConvertToYUY2()
    LoadPlugin("msu_fieldshiftfixer.dll")
    MSU_FieldShiftFixer(1,0,0)
    ConvertToRGB24()
    Make sure "videoname.avi" is the name of your video. I would use "Video 1.avi". So it would look like so,
    Avisource("Video 1.avi")
    ConvertToYUY2()
    LoadPlugin("msu_fieldshiftfixer.dll")
    MSU_FieldShiftFixer(1,0,0)
    ConvertToRGB24()
  9. Go to File > Save, change "Text Document" to "All Files", then save as "Script.avs" in folder "Capture"
  10. Open VirtualDub, and go to File > Open video file, and choose "Script.avs"
*All credit for the MSU part goes to Ryu Hitokiri and Deathenator*

Go to the Video tab and select Compression choose the x264 codec

Now click on the Configure button.

Use the Single pass - Bitrate based (ABR)

Move the slider anywhere between 3000 and 5000 to get great quality. Then click ok. Now go to File and click save as AVI.

After you save it you will have rape quality!

Here is an example of what to expect:
http://files.filefront.com/new101avi.../fileinfo.html

NOTE: I used the 5000 kbs setting in this example which is actually 5mbs so thats why the video is 14mb. You can use 3000 kbs which is 3mb and get the same quality with much smaller file sizes.

P.S. I typed this fast so there might be spelling mistakes just pm and I will fix them.

Quality was alright to today's standards. Seemed too dark.

Thats because you dont have the x264 codec installed on your computer. Also, the color levels are complete preference.

Adjust brightness\contrast more. I guarantee that having a higher contrast than brightness will make everything look a bit better (can't fix the f..ked up colors though).

With every CC I've used, higher contrast works wonders with having everything too dark (and not raising the brightness too high).

Make sure you change the audio source to the Dazzle DVC100 in the audio tab.
