I had a quick question about the Pyro A/V Link, if I wanted to record and play using the component cables, wouldn't I need to have splitters for those component cables? Does any place sell component y-cables and if they do what is the price range for those? Also, is there an option in any capture program to capture from the component cables? I don't actually have a Pyro yet, but I was thinking about going all out and capturing in component if possible. My TV plays Halo 2 in 480p while using component, and I can tell a significant difference compared to the composite quality.

If I can't do this, then is there an option where you can both play and record in S-video? Could I purchase a S-video y-cable which I know do exist, and then play and record like that. Because honestly, I believe the standard composite quality looks like sh*t after playing in 480p for some time now.

Can anyone answer me? Crest maybe you? You seem to know everything about this kind of thing lol.

The Pyro records component, and I believe Virtualdub just reads it as "Component" with the video input. The device will show up as a VCR in Windows however.

You could use RCA splitters, but it's recommended you get Component specific splitters.

You could use like one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/3-RCA-RGB-Compon...QQcmdZViewItem

And one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/6FT-2M-ATLONA-CO...QQcmdZViewItem

Now assuming you have the Xbox 360, plug the component cables into the splitter, plug the new set of cables into the splitter, then plug the new cables into the Pyro. And then plug the cables built into the splitter into the TV.

These splitters are just wired 3 ways so either way will work.
You'll also need a set of Audio Splitters.

By the way, you know the Pyro can't record 480p, right? Me, Folksy, and Davobrosia have worked on it alot.

Oh ok that helps a lot. Now if the Pyro can't record in 480p, does it just record in a higher resolution compared to S-video or what? Also, I am glad to see that those component splitters don't cost too much. And I do have a 360.

No actually same resolution as Composite and Svideo. But based on how the video is sent through the cable you get much much higher clarity.

Also possible with some bob deinterlacing you could have Nice looking 480p video afterwards.

There are some CC's that can capture 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i
But you need a newer system with alot of Harddrive space. Also they are about 400 dollars. I'm saving for it

It's all wired together, It will work. In this case it doesn't matter the direction of the signal. Then Xbox is still sending it to two outputs.

Yeah, like 500 GB or more, depending on how you record.

You are f..ked if its uncompressed. You need like a 1 TB Raid 5 array. (~100 MB\s recording size lol)

Well if used with Huffy, about a 25mb/s might be possible. Since most 720p lossless video is like 150-200mbps
