I dont use x264 but its just for better quality.

I'll explain this again...

Compression isn't to make your video look better. It's to make your video look the same as the source for a much lower filesize.

x264 happens to be 2nd to best compressor on the planet.

Me and a few others here have gotten uncompressed quality from 2200kbps.

However x264 compresses better then wmv, so for 1500kbps x264 will give better "quality", and will be able to retain the look of the original source better then wmv.

So basically what you are saying is that wmv hurts my video's quality, and x264 only shows it in avi as a smaller file, and how the quality should look, just like i captured it?

Wmv will deteriorate your quality more then x264 will.
x264 will look closer to your uncompressed .avi source.

But I tell everyone. Xvid, and x264 are output formats. Meaning don't compress clips with them and edit with them. Use these for compressing the final montage.
