| | This tut is intended for the owners of the ATI TV Wonder Pro. All other CC, proceed at your own risk. SAMPLE QUALITY: This is the quality rendered at 3 mb/sec. ::::Link:::: This is the quality rendered at 2mb/sec. ::::Link:::: Programs you will need Virtual Dub ::::Link:::: Xilisoft Video Converter ::::Link:::: Xilisoft Video Converter Key I'm not going to post a direct link, you will have to find your own way. Winrar Huffyuv codec ::::Link:::: Smart.vdf filter ::::Link:::: Now, I will try to make this as easy to follow as possible. I believe the best way to achieve this is what a simple guide into how I achieve my quality. Process 1: Installing Virtual Dub and Xilisoft Video Converter 1. After downloading Virtual Dub, the file with be in a .zip file. Right click on the .zip file(found wherever you commanded the download to send it), and click “extract files“. Then click “ok” at the bottom of the newly opened box. 2. After downloading the Xilisoft Video Converter files, you should have the program and the key.gen. Double click “x-video-converter“, and then follow the on-screen guide until the product is installed. After installation is complete, open up the key.gen, click “generate” , and then “copy serial”. Now go into the Xilisoft Video Converter. Click “help” at the top, and then click “Enter Registration Code”. Right click and paste the registration code into the license code box, and fill in any random name you wish. Process 2: Capturing with Virtual Dub 1. Now it is almost time to capture. Go into the extracted files you created earlier from Virtual Dub, and select “VirtualDub.exe”. This will start up Virtual Dub, and will take you to the main screen. Now click “File” at the top left, and scroll all the way down to “Capture AVI.” 2. O No! No screen! Don’t worry, that’s what is supposed to happen . Go to device, and select “ATI TV Wonder Pro A/V Capture” if it is not already selected. 3. Now we will move right to the “Video” tab. Click it, and then select “Preview”. Now scroll over “Preview Acceleration” , and select “Both Fields.” Moving down the line, we will go to video source. If you are using composite(red, white, and yellow), select “Video Composite, but if you are using S-Video(one black cable), select “Video Svideo”. This is when you should finally see a screen. 4. Now, I will provide pictures for the setting for the following things: Capture Pin ::::Link:::: Preview Pin ::::Link:::: Capture Filter ::::Link:::: 5. The last step of this process is very simple. Under the “Videos” tab, select “Set custom format”. Use these settings. ::::Link::::: Process 3: Video Compression in Virtual Dub Now, I am not going to explain how to get huffy completely downloaded onto your computer, because it has been known to do some strange things for different people. This is the only part of the guide I can’t exactly baby you through. I will move on to how to use it inside Virtual Dub. 1. Under the “Video” tab, click “Compression”. There should be a long list of available compressors. Click on huffy uv v 2.1.1(or a very similar version), and then select ok. Process 4: Capturing with Virtual Dub 1. Now that setup is complete, it is finally time to capture. Capturing is the easiest part of the entire process. Under the “File” tab, select “Set Capture File”. Here you select where you want your clip to be stored. Once you have the name and place selected, press “save”. Now, under the “Capture” tab, click “Capture Video”. It will now begin capture. When you are ready to stop capturing, the “Capture Video” option you used to start capturing will have turned into the button “Stop Capture”. Simply clicking the button will stop capturing. Process 5: Taking clips out of Virtual Dub 1. Once you have stopped capturing and decided to take a clip out, go under the “File” tab, and select “Exit capture mode”. Now, under the “File” tab again, click “Open file” and select your video you just recorded. You should now see a screen and a frame indicator. 2. I have tweaked a few settings at this stage. Go under the “Video“ tab , and select “Filters”. From here, click “Add”, and select “sharpen”. Move the indicator from 0 to 10, and then click “ok”. Now click “Open” and find the smart.vdf file you downloaded. Now add it, using the preset settings, and select “ok”. Now exit the “Filters” tab. 3. Here is a picture that will guide you through this step ::::Link:::: Now scroll through the video using the frame indicator(circled in light blue.) Once you have found your clip, set the frame indicator where you want it to begin and press the button with the red arrow pointing to it. Now set the frame indicator to where you want the clip to end, and press the button with the green arrow pointing to it. 4. Select the “File” tab, and select “Save as AVI”. Enter whatever name you desire, and then click save. Your clip is now successfully out of Virtual Dub. Process 6: Video Compression in Xilisoft Video Converter 1. After opening Xilisoft Video Converter, click the “File” tab, and then select “Add”. Now add the clip you took out of Virtual Dub. Click the “Profile” tab(located just under the large white box), and select “Windows Media Video(.wmv)“. Now left click on your clip, and the options on the right side of the screen should unlock and allow you to change them. Change the Video, Audio, and settings underneath the “Profile” tab(zoom, split, and destination.) with help from these next two pictures(bitrate can be changed to accompany needs.) Video and Audio Settings ::::Link:::: Profile Tab Settings ::::Link:::: **The only thing you should do on your own is select your destination. This is where all compressed files will be sent. After these changes have been made, it is now time to save all of them so you don’t have to redo this. To the right of the “Profile” tab is a button named “Save”. Click the arrow next to it, and the select “Save As”. Save this Profile whatever you wish, and then select it from the “Profile” tab. 2. You are now ready to compress. Click the “Encode” button, and then wait for the clip to be done. You now have a clip that is small, high quality, and ready to be uploaded or edited.

| | Well, what you should do is keep the clip as .avi the entire time is in Vegas. You should render out as uncompressed .avi to ensure the exact same quality(nothing happens to the clip but your editing), and then use the same method I showed you to use Xilisoft Video Converter on your clip you take out of Vegas.
