Kevin just so you know for GB the rules for 2v2 are exactly the same for 4v4. Which means the games go to 50. 50 might take a while so I'm down for going to 25 but after already going to a tournament where it ended at 25 I kind of wished it went to 50.

It just seems 50 is a bit excessive and would take way too long in a 2v2. Plus, remember, the 4v4 tournament last time ended around 3am -- having twice as many teams would be ridiculous if we had it first to 50.

If we don't get way too many people signed up for it I can change it to 50, or maybe 50 for WB 25 for LB, or something like that.

Well we'd have twice as many teams but remember twice as many people can play at once :P (unless we're doing full screen from the get go?).

And I like your WB LB idea, but after a round of 2 of losers bracket it should get moved up to 50? Just throwing ideas out

You should have another Gears 2 tourney over winter break... and I might make an appearance at the Halo tourneys, but that is not official.

True, but remember...
2x as many people, 2x as many games = same time
2x as many people, 2x as many games, 2x the time per game (first to 50, maybe it'll only take like 1.5x the time per game) = a lot longer

And yes, not ALL of LB would be 25 only :P

Well from all of my experience with 2v2 GB a shutout took me on average 40 minutes with time from the start of the match and in between the round for host to switch considered... I think the issue is more or less with the timer within the game rather than the kill count. I have had plenty of games that never made it to 50 kills. Something as simple as cutting off 3 minutes or so of every round could yield some big results. I would suggest doing that for the first few rounds but definitely keep the normal time towards the more intense matches. As shotgun said, 25 is ideal but kills go quickly and a game can really heat up prior to that in all fairness. Although time is a pain I would not cut the kill count down before looking at the timer itself.

I also would have to say that it would be better at 50. just cause i would like the games to last longer. And also because there will be a lot more people playing at a time because its a 2v2. It doesnt really seem like there are a lot of teams even coming. Can you tell me exactly how many teams are signed up as of today? thank you BIinky.
