Sennheisers aren't the best, they're just what the pros use. That's why everyone gets them. Just throwing that out there, because I know a lot of you are going to say them.

Headphones don't have mics, no.

Turtle Beach ones do, but they're crap.

Just use the headphones for everything, screw TV speakers. Get Sennheiser HD555's if you're on a really tight budget.

HD555's are probably the best for under $100. They've got the best soundstage for gaming. Not the best music headphones though, there are quite a few better ones for the price.

For over $150 you'd be better off with some AKG (K601) or Audio Technica's (AD700) for gaming.

Just put the mic around your neck and set the voice to speakers only (voices will come through headphones).

Agreed, though i think 650's (595 too) have way better soundstage than 555's...unless you just saying for that price range.

Yeah, but they're $150-ish, sometimes higher.

You know more about the HD650's than me, so I don't know about their soundstage. The HD595's are really good though.

HD555's are neutral, light on bass and overall not very special at all. They have good soundstage which is why they're a good choice for gaming. If you're JUST gaming then get HD555's, because you won't notice the different between HD595's and HD555's in just gaming.

HD595's are a lot better though for music. The sound signature is basically the same, but they're just better. If you're going to listen to music you must get the HD595's, they're a lot better for music.

The HD650's are in a completely different league. They're high end and some of the best headphones you can buy for under $1,000. They sound different to HD595's -- they've got lots of bass and beautifully smooth mids. They make music sound special -- that's what I've read from most HD650 owners. Although, you need a good setup to drive the HD650's as they need a lot of currenty/voltage. You can't run them out of an iPod, they'll be at about 10% of their best and you won't get much volume. You need to put in well over $1000 in amps, cables and sources if you want to run them at their 100% best.
