| | Advanced Foundry Forging Tecniques By UpsiloN So first of all, this guide is intended to people who already forged a little and knows a good part of the basics. This guide contains tutorials on: -Floating Objects -Merging Objects Into Each Other (Merging) -Merging Objects Into The Map (Geoglitching) -Effective Spawn And Spawn Zone Placement -Infinite Money Glitch Tutorial (No Video) -Merging MOVABLE Objects with the map geometry (NEW!!!) -And More To Come!! 1 : Recommendations I recommend to forge most of your serious maps alone. I'm not saying that forging with friends is bad, it's actually cool to put everyone's ideas on a map, but the host and the client won't see exactly the items at the same place, making the construction of perfectly made maps almost impossible. I also recommend to save often and keep your party at least on Invite. ::Click on the sub-titles to see the related videos:: 2 : Floating Objects There are a few ways to make an object float (see video). ->Stack your items then delete those under. It can work with all the objects but as you can see in the video, only the Foundry items can float without falling. The other objects such as dumpsters, crates and vehicules will fall as soon as they are touched. ->Hold the item where you want it to be and save your map. Then just end the game and restart the map. (Note: This tecnique is more random, which can frustrate the impatient ones) 3: Merging Objects Into Each Other (Interlocking) The easiest way to do it is to place for example 2 boxes together and make guides to help you. Then you need to decide which box goes into which. After it's done, place your reticule on the box that you don't want to move and press ''X''. Then select [Respawn at Start = No] and start a New Round. The only thing left is to use the guides you made to move the other box at the desired location, delete your guides ans enjoy the smootness of your map 4 : Merging Objects Into The Map (Geoglitching) In order to do this glitch, you need to make yourself guides (like in the object merging glitch). IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT!!!!! After placing, for example, the box that you want to place in the floor and/or wall in your guides, place a few upside down doors on the top of your box, wait 1 sec or 2, and grab yout box without moving it. (it's hard to explain, the doors can be placed slightly into objects but the objects can't go trough doors....so after placing the doors on top of your box, grabbing the box forces it into the map...) Then release it when it stabilised. WARNING!!!!!! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO DO THIS ALONE SINCE the glitch works better when you are host AND IT CREATES HUGE LAG!!!!! I don't have any more explanations on this one just watch the video. ::Updade on Geoglitching:: After experimenting this technique for months now, I can say that the best way to do it is putting the doors on the side, not upside down. You have more chances of getting it right. It's better to Geoglitch it slowly, you can end-up gaining a lot of time. Also, the best objects to use as guides are fence walls and teleporters. I havo no explanations on this it's just a personnal preference I guess. 5 : Effective Spawn And Spawn Zones Placement The spawns are THE most important factor in a map. One misunderstood fact is the starting points. You only need to place ONE starting point per team, the other temmates will spawn on the regular spawns surrounding the Starting Point. That's why you won't need to make 2 versions of your map (Team and FFA). -Second, do not place your spawns facing walls (of course), place them in relatively ''safe'' spots and place as many spawn points as you can (the more spawn points there are, the better Bungie's spawning system will work) -Third, the respawn zones can be really important. You probably never touched to them like 70% of other forgers. Well, you can control which team spawns in the zone, which can be usefull if you make a symmetrical team-based map, but the important thing is that you can control the spawn priority of different areas in your map. In order to do that, you just have to change the spawn order by pressing ''X'' while aiming at the zone beacon. You can choose from 0 to 10, 0 being the more important and 10 being the least important. Great spawn system explanation, take a look! (Link to ForgeHub Tread) 6 : Infinite Money Glitch In order to make better maps, money should not be a factor. So here is a glitch to have an infinite amount of money. This glich works on any map. -First, start with a canvas map and just go down the object list placing one of each items on your map (I suggest to keep them ordered), but don't bother placing those those that are free ie: window pannels, spawns, objective markers etc. -Second, go to each items and press ''X'' twice, then change the Run-Time Maximum to the hiest number. Do that untill you run out of money, then save your map, end the game, restart the game. From this point you'll need to save and quit in-between every object. -Yes this is extremely long so I suggest you look in different forums for pre-glitched maps before doing it yourself. Here are some pre-gliched maps I made: Foundry Avalanche (NEW!) Tips: Always have at least one of each object on the map or you won't be able to place them back into your map. I strongly suggest you to never delete any objects at all, just stack it in a unused corner of your map. 7 : Merging Movable Objects with Map Geometry Ok for this one I found it on forgehub.com and I could not explain it better. Si I'll just send you guys to the Tutotial: Link (If it counts as advertising another site just tell me I'll remove the link and explain it in my words) Now thanks for reading my small tutorials on forging the Foundry map. Please feel free to leave comments, ask for other tutorials, ask me questions, tell me if I'm wrong on some glitches and you can even give me some advices or improvement on the tecniques I use to create these glitches. If you see any grammatical errors, fell free to inform me. (English is not my main language) Thanks again and I hope I helped some of you!! UpsiloN

Posts: 16 | This is a Great Post and I Found It Very Helpful! Check out my post in the Bunige Forums for more information on the slow motion device I created and how it can be applied. If you like the idea maybe it could be added to your list?.. Read more after the jump. http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=18775307 Last edited by Qoitus; 03-24-2008 at 06:56 AM. | |||||
