When I load Halo2vista, it goes into the blue "HALO 2" screen but RIGHT in the middle it freezes. My computer would still respond, my G15 screen still worked, my music still played. However I could not CTRL+ALT+DEL, Minimize it, or ALT+F4 it. I reinstalled it, but now when I load my system completely crashes. I checked my Error Log in windows and it said Xlive.exe corrupted Halo2.exe during loading. So I uninstalled the Xbox Live redistributable. I downloaded the latest one off Microsoft.com. Still nothing.

From the time I last played H2 which was Friday I think and now. I installed a program called Cheat Engine, It's like Gameshark for PC, and The ATi Tray Tools. Both have been uninstalled successfully. Still freezes my computer. I wondered if there was anything I could try.

I have uptodate drivers except for Catalyst Control Center/ATi VideoCard Drivers. In which I have last months 8.8 series.

This will sound obvious but have you tried reinstalling Halo 2 Vista?
If that doesn't fix it then your only other option will be to reformat windows... People who used a bad crack for Mass Effect had to do a fresh install of windows before the game would accept a new crack, hopefully H2V isn't the same way about Xlive.exe
But hey, a good excuse to format before everything goes haywire as computers normally do. This would also give you time to backup your files before you format, losing everything is the worst.

sounds VERY stubid, but what if W-Live stops loading if you got that program installed, just my thought, if they wanna prevent cheating.

i don't know if its that cheat engine i'm thinking about, but it could be.

Cheat Engine is a game shark app it changes attributes in the game. I can try checking my registry. But It's already uninstalled.

Besides, I think crashing my computer is alittle strong for anti-cheat. Plus... does Microsoft care? : /

Well thanks anyway, I fixed it. Thank god.

I had DEP enabled for everything but stuff like Dllhost.dll, After Effects, and a defragger. I put it to default and it worked, however I also uninstalled ATi tray tools and cleaned the registry. So you were close brooney, you're suggest caused me to go into the registry and clean out some stuff.
