Top 5 things that will really improve your game.
5. Shut the door to your room. Believe it or not, but you can easily lose focus by outside factors. If you are in an open area, try using headphones when playing so that you can hear footsteps in the game, and gun shots better.

4. Look sensitvity! I always see people putting their look sensitvity way too high. If you are playing Lockout, you will probably use the sniper rifle, which works better when your look sensitvity is slower. Try slowing it down to 2 or 3 and you might actually play better.

3. Take off the mic. Personally, I play a lot better when I take off my mic. You don't really need to talk to the other person unless you are playing a less serious game. Playing with your mic off with cause you to be more focused towards the game, and less to the other player talking.

2. Don't Stress! If someone just killed you in a bulls**t way, don't panic! If you start getting upset and angry, you will start to play worse. If you get killed in a bulls**t way, just shake it off and keep playing. Keep your cool during the game and don't lose focus. Also, mute the other player if they are talking s**t.

1. Silence Background Music! This will cause you to play better and focus more on the game. Personally, I play a lot worse when I have music playing. If you simply shut off the music, you will do a lot better. If you have another TV near, shut it off.

Need help with sniping? Read this!

First thing you need to do is lower your sensivity. If you do that, then you will be able to aim a lot better when sniping. The best would be around 2ish, MAYBE 3.

Other than that, you could always try to get the better spots for sniping.

Lockout- BR 3 Bridge
Acension- Small Tower
Sanctuary- Carbine Spawn
Zanzibar- Sea Wall Sniper spawn
Terminal- Defensive base (Up near the train)
Relic- Human Sniper spawn

Basic knowledge but can be useful.



Before I begin with this, I would like to give credit to Silent Scop3 for giving me the general idea and format for this. I’ve noticed a lot of FFA tips and strategies threads going around so I decided to make an MLG Team Strategies and Locations thread. I am making this thread so I can share my knowledge of playing in MLG teams. I’m not in anyway saying that I am pro or anything of the sort. I haven’t been to any events yet but I plan on going to 07 events. I’m a good strong FFA player but I feel like I need to share my team strategies because FFA tips are everywhere. I will first go over the maps and the locations of the maps. I will give each location a 1-10 rating and explain why I feel that way about that location.

Beaver Creek-

Top Blue/Red Base- 9/10, Top Read/Blue is a great spot to kill enemies going into the creek, going for overshield, people at top Rockets, and Sniper Spawn. You can go into the base if you are being shot also.

Rocket Spawn- 6/10. Rocket Spawn is a great place to get some kills quickly but you can’t stay up there too long. IMO, if you aren’t host, you will get killed quickly. Try to stay up there for a short time and escape inside red/blue base.

Sniper Spawn- 2/10. Sniper Spawn is a very bad spot IMO. You can get naded and shot from almost anywhere. It’s best to just get the sniper and go to top blue/red base. Sniper Spawn is a bad spot to be in team games.

Inside Blue/Red Base- 7/10. Inside Blue/Red base is a great place to go in you need to let your shields recharge, get more BR ammo, or get more nades. It’s best not to stay in there too long because you can’t get very many kills in there.

Sides of Blue/Red Base- 8/10. You can access to ammo, nades, and easy getaway to inside the base next to you. You can get first shot on someone at sniper spawn and BR the person on rocket spawn and force them to hide inside the base and you can take control of the higher spots.

Teleporter behind Blue/Red Base- 8/10. This is a great place to camp in you are winning and it’s a close game. You have easy access to ammo, nades, and hiding spots. Usually, if your whole team is by the teleporter, it is VERY hard for the other team to kill you.

Creek- 2/10. This is terrible spot to be. You might be able to get the overshield but that’s all down there. You can get naded and BR’ed from almost anywhere. You should only go to this area when your trying to get the overshield or go to rocket spawn. Remember, overshield spawns every 1 minute so time it when you have to go down to the creek.

Overview of Beaver Creek- This is a very fair and balanced map. The sides are equal and the weapons are equal. Beaver Creek is mostly the matter of getting higher than your enemies and getting the rockets/sniper/overshield.

Ivory Tower-

Sniper Spawn- 9/10. I find it very easy to win if you get your whole team up to sniper spawn. You have sniper up there and easy access to overshield and the shotguns. When the game starts, I suggest getting up to top sniper and then go for the rockets and sword.

Sword Spawn- 6/10. This is a good place to go if you have no shields and if you need more BR ammo. I wouldn’t suggest staying down here too long because most of the fighting goes on at sniper spawn and shotgun side.

Shotgun Side- 8/10. This a good place to go when your trying to get the rockets or sneak under and get to sniper spawn. This is also a great place to be to get kills considering the fighting goes on near that side. Make sure to always grab the shotgun, you might need it.

Overshield Side- 10/10. This is the best place on Ivory Tower to be. You can hide here to recharge your shields and get the overshield. If you can get your whole team over here, it will be hard to defeat you. Be sure to avoid nades being thrown at you and people coming from the top. I will discuss a great strat for this map later in this thread.

Rocket Spawn- 3/10. This spot is only good to get the rockets. Other than that, you shouldn’t be going in the middle. You can get shoot from almost anywhere on the map and naded from anywhere on the map.

Hardwood- 6/10 on XBL and 4/10 on LAN. When you play on LAN, you can get shot from top sniper and there isn’t a lot of room to hide when your getting shot. On XBL, you can avoid the shots pretty easy (Considering the shooter doesn’t host). Having sniper on hardwood is a great way to make the enemy frustrated .

Overview of Ivory Tower- Ivory Tower is fun map if you know how to play it. This map isn’t balanced so you need to get the bigger weapons quick and pick a spot to stay. Also, make sure your team knows whats going on and whos coming from where with what.

Lockout-

Battle Rifle Tower 3- 8/10. This is a great spot to BR people that are at Snipe 1,2 or 3. I would suggest not being up on BR 3 with the sniper though. I will explain why in a few minutes. Make sure you blow up the exploding barrels before you attempt to go up here. If you get naded by the whole other team, your not going to live very long.

Battle Rifle Tower 2- 6/10.. This spot is a good place to be in you have sword/shotgun. I would suggest not sniping here either because you don't have a great view in here. If you are being naded from sniper tower, go down to BR 1 and hide near the sword spawn and then make your way up to BR 3/Library.

Battle Rifle Tower 1- 5/10. This spot is good to be if you have low health and need to recharge. Also, make sure to grab the sword when your down here. Try to nade Snipe 3 from sword spawn and you might get a few kills. Just make sure you don't spend too long down here because your not bound to get alot of kills down there.

Top Blue- 4/10. This is an okay spot to be in the other team is underglass, BR 1, and Snipe 1. Other than that, I would suggest going down to Bottom Blue and make your way to Sniper Tower or BR Tower. Don't sniper here because you can get naded from anywhere on this map. Only stay up here for a short period of time.

Bottom Blue- 3/10. If you spawn here at the start of the game, go for sniper tower. You need to get there and get the sniper or you will be screwed for the rest of the game. Avoid going down here too much because you won't get many kills. But, this is a great spot to go if your health is low and you need to recharge. If you are ahead and the game is very close (Like 48-46) then get your team together and camp down here. Watch under glass for someone with sniper and watch the pistol spawns for somebody that might drop down with sword. Also, be sure to watch elbow in case somebody is throwing nades from there.

Snipe 3- 6/10. Sniping at this location is bad. You can get shot from BR tower and you may die depending on how quick you got away and if they were host or not. If your team has died at Sniper Tower, hide in the dark shadowy part in snipe 3 and wait for someone to go up there and kill them. That is a great thing to do when your the only person at Sniper Tower. Also, be sure to watch shortcut when you have sniper. The person coming up shortcut may have shotgun so be careful!

Snipe 2- 8/10. This spot is the place to snipe at Sniper tower. You can easily hide from BR shots and you have a clear view of Lockout. Try to watch out for nades being thrown from BR tower and Top Blue. Also, tell your teamates to set up and watch under glass. It sucks when you get killed at Snipe 2 because your teamates where messing around. Make sure to watch nades from elbow also. Be sure to have extra plasma grenades so you can place them behind the wall thing on elbow if someone is hiding behind it. When your sniping, take it easy. Don't go for a shot if you are almost dead. Just wait, and take your time. Don't waste shots and try to be creative.

Snipe 1- 5/10. This place is great to snipe people at BR 1 and under glass. Try to watch out for people coming from elbow because you could easily be killed if they nade-shoot you. Don't stay here too long and always keep looking around. Know where the other team is and what weapons they have. If they have sniper at BR 1 and you go down to snipe 1, your dead.

Suicide Room- 2/10. This is a bad spot to be. You can get killed and naded from elbow so easy. You can naded from snipe 2 threw the hole and die easy. Try to keep out of here unless you have shotgun and you know people are coming from under glass and BR 1. Try to keep the sword out of here because all the attetion with be towards you and you will most likely die quickly.

BR Bridge- 8/10 This area consits of the bridge on BR 2 and the bridge on BR 3. I'm putting them in the same spot because they are identical. This is a great spot to snipe if you are at BR Tower. You have great cover and it may be hard for the other team to shoot you. You can get a quick shot of the other team before they can shoot you. Most people will expect you to be at BR 3 with sniper so this could be a nice suprise to them. Make sure to stay away from the exploding barrels in library. This can cause you to lose sniper and blow it very far away.

Under Glass- 6/10. This area is more of the hiding area. You can squeeze yourself up into the corner and avoid being naded. Don't stay down here too long unless you have shotgun/sword and are willing to camp. This area is mainly for people to travel between BR and Snipe Tower. So if your team is at Sniper Tower, camp under here to kill people trying to "sneak" over from BR tower.

Green Room- 2/10. This place sucks because you only have one way out and if someone gets there before you, you better hope you have some nades or you will die. This is a great spot for people to go when they have no shields and need to recharge. I would suggest not staying down here too long because you only have one exit. If you wanna be creative, you could sword lunge out of there through the enter spot. Only go down here for shotgun and to let your shields recharge.

Elbow- 5/10. This spot is great to go to when you need to get to sniper tower from bottom/top blue. I suggest staying off this part of the map if you have sniper/sword/or any other big weapon. That is a huge mistake doing that and it will result in a turning point in the game or even a loss. We know you don't want that to happen so don't do that. Be sure to walk over the nades and be on elbow for a short time.

Overview- Lockout is a great map to play team games on. Make sure you keep everything together and don't make a dumb mistake in giving the other team sniper/sword/or another big power weapon. Lockout isn't a huge map so the power weapons will greatly change the flow of the game. Find a place, and stand your ground. Be smart and don't overlook anything.

Warlock- Warlock can be the easiest or hardest map to master. A few things to remember when playing Warlock.

First, pay attention to all of the spawns. At the beginning always nade their portals for a couple easy kills. When you think you can attempt a setup try one like this:

#1- yellow nades/yellow flag
#2- green nades/green flag
#3- put your best slayer top mid
#4- your ramp/plat

If your team can shoot together you will RUN this map.

Tips,etc. - If you are standing their healthpack they will spawn either their flag or yellow/green needlers. Also, if you stand on the wall in front of their flag and keep crouching while jumping up and down they will keep spawning there for very easy assassinations. ALWAYS attempt this, I have gotten kill frenzies doing this!

Now-

Red, Blue, Yellow flag- 5/10. This can be a very powerful or very vulnerable place to be. You have a clear shot of your half of the map and can pick players off as they spawn green/yellow needlers. Be careful, because even though you are in a strong offensive spot you can get naded out easily.

Green flag- 6/10. Same as the others except green side is much darker. In 1v1s this is my favorite place to go. Catch people as they spawn blue/red nades and easy access to their flag for easy spawn killing.

Red, Blue, Yellow, Green Nades- 3-8/10. Yet another pivotal position on Warlock, nades can be a beneficial area because there is so much cover and airlift is nearby to escape. If you are a good slayer you can rack up TONS of kills in nades if your team is set up. Same goes with flag, being naded out can be done very easily so make sure it is clear before you try to set up.

Healthpacks- 4/10. Be careful when camping healthpack because you can be shot from anywhere around you. They can attack from flags, plat, nades, and they may even charge airlift with a shotty. Make sure to have someone covering you if you do decide to stay up there.

Bottom Middle- 1/10. The only time you should be here is to recharge your shield. Thats IT.

Top Middle- 9/10. So, you made it to top mid? Start slaying! Virtually a 360 degree view of the entire map, this is THE place to be on Warlock. So much cover and so much to shoot at. You can help any teammates in trouble and you can collect invis every 1:10.

My only parting words is even though some of you may HATE warlock, take these strats and use them. It may take you some time to get used to setting up on warlock, but when you do, it literally becomes the best map on the game. [ OT- I remember when we were scrimming a team on warlock we kept all four of them down the entire game. I think we each had over 50 kills] If you dont like these positions, feel free to change it up to make it comfortable for your team.

Midship (Our Favorite)-

Pink 3- 7/10. This is spot that is usually looked as being the "best" way to get kills. That is wrong. You can get spot from almost anywhere on Midship. Only go up on P3 if your team is set up and can keep the other team from Team BRing you. Don't get full of yourself on p3 either. If your being shot, get down. Don't try to out BR someone thats on Car3. Just because your higher, doesn't mean you will out BR them. Watch out for nades on P3. This is a great way to kill someone on P3. Watch out for Team BR and nades and you should be good to go for this spot.

Pink 2- 10/10. This is a great spot to be when you need to get a few kills or hide while your low health. If you have sword and BR here. Your bound to get a killing spree and maybe even a running riot. This is the best place on Midship to get quick kills. Be sure to watch out for nades froms Blue/Red 2 and try to make sure your whole team isn't in p2 with you.

Pink 1- 4/10. Try to avoid going in P1. This spot is deadly due to the fact that you can be naded and shot from almost everywhere. This place is OK to hide if you are weak only if the other team is near Carbine. If you are being chased on P1, pick up the shotgun and hide behind the pillar and blow them away. Thats the best thing you could do at P1 since there really is way to get out alive if the other team sees you there.

Top Blue/Red Base- 9/10. This spot is very good to get some kills quick. It's not as good as P2 when getting kills but Top Blue/Red has more cover than P2. If your getting shot from the another base, don't try to shoot them. They can kill you quicker than you think they can. Just get down and don't give them a shot at you until your shields are back. Use the side covers to your advantage and remember that you can go under the base for great cover. Also, be sure to watch for some of P3. P3 can be the biggest threat for you when your at Top Red/blue. Use nades to take out the person on P3. But whatever you do, don't rush P2 with someone on P3. You will mostly likely be killed before you get there. Stay back, toss nades, and team BR him until he's dead. Be sure to have someone on the other base so if he tries to hide, you can kill him from both sides.

Car 3- 8/10. This spot is great when you want a clear view of both bases. The big problem here is that you can get naded from anywhere and shot from anywhere. You can hide in the bubbles but you can easily get naded from anywhere. Try to limit your time up here because if you get team BRed, your not going to be up here very long. Also, watch P3 and be sure to use nades to kill the person on P3.

Car 2- 3/10. This spot isn't very good considering you can get blow up by the barrel things and die instantly. Try to avoid coming in here because this spot can be naded from both bases and somebody at Car 3 would have the chance to suprise you and kill you. This spot would be OKAY to go if you didn't have any shields.... Just don't go here too much...

I will keep updating this thread when I have some spare time. I have some more stuff for the rest of the MLG maps but I can't type it all right now. Please keep checking back for more tips.
