I hate to give fraction ratings, but I have to give that intro 9.5/10. It was a great idea that just wasn't quite perfect. For example, the blood gulch shot was too long and too out in the open for it to look as cool as all the other shots. There wasn't as much happening. I also found that before the text came in, it was dragging on a bit too long, and something could've been done to just grab a bit more attention and get the audience to hear, "Yeah, we've got something cool coming, so just you wait." But yes, everything besides those two things were awesome.
BTW, I think you took the piss hard route in masking that pistol. The textures in Halo are extremely basic, I'd think you could just walk up to a blue or green wall, shoot at that, and key out the wall.
But now that I think about it, I think you could have just done the thing with the pistol with nothing else happening in the background, and used Time Difference? You could get that to be an alpha matte for a mask. I'm assuming you did that intro in AAE, with the extruded text (shatter?), and sped up the clips in proportion to eachother using time remapping.
But I digress, still I give you more repect than you already had for putting all that time into masking.
I would comment on everything else, but I'm tired. |
Everything you stated passed through my mind.
First thing, there are no solid blue or green walls, that wouldn't colour the pistol. Plus I wanted to include the muzzle fire. So I ended up going into Boarding action getting on the highest point which happens to be the farthest out, and looked straight down. This way the muzzle fire is set on black with starts that look like sparks to be honest. The pistol came out great, so it was worth it I think. Also the Intro seems to be keeping the score up on the video : /
All 3D was done with Maltaannon/PolygonStudio 3D shape extruder.
As far as the bloodgulch clip goes, I wasn't sure where else to fly through, It's a long area to begin with. I time remapped a composition of the video looped simply to follow the flow of the song, which turned out well.
The Logo stayed up because I was delusional and had no idea what to do.
