Posts: 680 | Help With Fraps For those of you who opt to use FRAPs, here are some tips for people with mid-range/low end PC's. If you find that FRAPs eats alot of framerate when recording, simply lower some options like setting FRAPS to record at Half Size rather than Full Size. As an example, lets say your ingame resolution is 800x600. If you have FRAPs set to Full Size recording, it will record exactly 800x600 pixel resolution....and if you have a slow computer, it will be a framerate hog. Half size will reduce the framerate lag you get when recording by only capturing 400x300 pixels. Granted, the second option is slightly less quality, but is alot less of a framerate hog. Also, up the Framerate dots to either 50 or 60. I find that I get more framerate when I set it to 60. Seems to be a rate cap for maximum framerate, and of course, you want the most framerate possible. For GameCam users, if you have the old versions that do not have the Enable Smart Capturing option; make sure your recording resolution matches your ingame resolution. For example, you do not want to be using an 800x600 ingame resolution with a 320x240 recording resolution. The reason? It will make your video quality absolutely horrifying, rendering text un-readable and much worse, because resolutions have different aspect ratios. To be sure you are using the right recording resolution, either have it match your ingame res (full size), or half size (simply cut the numbers in half: 800x600 half size = 400x300; 640x480 half size = 320x240). It also helps to set the quality up with Advanced Settings as high as it will go....or beyond. The default limit is 10, but I managed to set mine to 60......again with the framerate rate cap. For editing, be sure to check out ll Smack ll on the Halo 2 section for his tips for good quality when rendering clips out of Sony Vegas. He provided good tips and I use some of his tips to make my recordings have crystal clear quality. Thread can be found here. ::: Smack's Best Quality With WME/Vegas ::: That annoying color distortion with raw Gamecam files and Sony Vegas Tired of getting that annoying distortion with raw Gamecam .avi files and Sony Vegas? It is very simple to get rid of that. First thing you need to do is cut the clips in Windows Movie Maker, and then export as another .avi file. Then import that into Sony Vegas and there will be no color distortion at all.

Posts: 680 | Well go ahead and organize all the stuff I put down Oh and I could use some help with capturing my Xbox games but with a video camera..similar to how CMNeir does with his little Halo 2 Tricks vids. I cant use a capture card since my computer is far away from my Xbox.
