First of all, let's review why Halo 1 was good.. The weapons were infact balanced, regardless of what you might of heard. Grenade timers and distance thrown added another layer of skill to the game. Campaign had actual replay value on any difficulty setting. Power weapons were just that, powerful, and took an actual good player to excel with them, unlike h2.
Why Halo 2 is such a dramatic step back.. Practically dumbing the game down for newcommers to Halo (you).
1. Melee Lunges- Need I say more? Ever wonder why people assassinate you from the front sometimes, or anything else in regards to stupid deaths to beatdowns? LUNGES PEOPLE, lunges = bulls**t. Bungie knew their target audience were too stupid to beat down anyone w/o lunges.
2. Beatdown Animations- (h1 needler beatdown vs h2 needler beatdown). Go play h1 campaign and you will see that a majority of the beat down animations for H1 weapons were 10x cooler than H2's.
3. Cookie Cutters- Aim Assist, Auto-Aim, and Bullet Magnetism was enhanced for h2 players.
4. Campaign- Hooray.. I can play as a dinosaur and use a sentinal beam on the flood? No wai!
5. H2 was made in 10 months- Just enough time to disapoint bungie's true fans.
6. Grenades- Not only were grenades thrown shorter, but their fuses were both practically identical, which was very short.. Like the attention span of a h2 player. (zing)
7. Power Weapons- Sniper rifle, and rockets were made easier. Between the boost of cookie cutters (aim assist, bullet magnetism), the rockets had vehical lock-on, quicker rate of fire, while the sniper rifle was just easier period).
8. SMG- A new starting weapon over Assault Rifle was the dumbest idea ever. It failed in comparison, even bungie admits it was a bad idea.
9. Dual wielding- might as well disband the thought of there being a weapon balance in this game. Dual wielding, the birth of "Pray and Spray", the rock-paper-scissors of Halo 2.
10. Energy Sword- a camper's wet dream. Ridiculuos lunge range, and no ammo to boot!
11. Shotgun- making it utterly useless in an scenario but crouching around corners.
12. Needler, even dual wielded, it was useless.
13. Magnum- single wield clip couldnt kill a man, dual wield wasn't even worth the effort.
15. Plasma rifle- didn't even slow down players getting hit.
16. Plasma Pistol- aside from the fact that it homed on targets significantly more, but it also was near impossible to kill someone by firing simple shots.
17. No Fall Damage- that's bungie admmitting that the newcommers they had in mind for h2 were infact retarded, and could not handle themselves in "high" situations. Also helped people in super bouncing.
18. FOV - Field of Vision/View- H1 was roughly 90 degrees, h2 was around 60 I believe.. With that said, you were blind as a bat in comparison.
19. Warthog- What.. The.. Hell.. It's a damn warthog! Why the hell should it get blown up in 2 grenades, let alone any other semi-heavy vehical is beyond me.
20. The players- Halo2 introduced a breed of arrogant, ignorant, fragile X players. I hate them, have no respect for them, may all the bad things in the world happen to them and only them. You dont know how easy you got it, you didn't even have to earn your stripes, shame on you for existing.
Now to be fair I will try and list what I find good about Halo 2.. 1. Xboxlive Compatible- I can vs people who have only played h2 and never h1 and be able to hear all the cliche insults that they pass around like a contageous cancer? AWESOME!
2. Better ghost/banshee- I can splatter stuff.. or be a typical douche and drive my ghost backwards while shooting at a player whose on foot.
