 Halo: CE - Everything and More

|  This thread is designed to help you make the best Halo: CE experience possible.` To play Halo: CE with users around the world, there are two programs you can choose from to make this possible. These programs use a method known as 'tunneling', which tricks local area network (LAN) games into thinking it is connected to another console directly. The data is transfered through your ethernet cord through the net in forms of data packets, which the users console on the other end then recieves and processes. Since it is sent in the form of packets, there may be loss within the data transfer resulting in, a gamers worst enemy, lag. This can only be prevented from stronger connections and closers connections. If they player is closer to you, the data has to transfer a less distance, resulting in a more lag free game. To sum it up, the best games will be played with others that are closer in location. Console Tunneling Programs:
` XBConnect is the recommended tunneling software. It is used moreso than XLink Kai: Evolution VII for Halo: CE. It is also a lot more user friendly, but it does have its connection problems. To troubleshoot any problems that you may be recieving, just check on their website. XLink Kai: Evolution VII can be tricky at first, so if you're one of those people that can take that extra help, please don't hesitate to check out my stickied thread and follow the easy to use tutorial.
User Tutorial:
User Tools ` The only major downside of Halo: CE is the lack of voice support. That is definately the only thing that Halo 2 has over its predecessor. But that is not a problem anymore. Since the software is being used on your PC, you can use a computer microphone just as if you were playing a computer game. You can use any means of communication over XBconnect/XLink Kai: Evolution VII, but there is one that is recommended by XBConnect. It can also be used as an actual telephone! Basically it's a win-win situation. Communication:
` Chances are if anything in this thread is new to you, you're not good at Halo: CE. That's all there is to it. A lot of dedicated Halo: CE players have years of practice in hand. If you want to even begin getting on an competitive level, you need to learn the power up spawn times. Here is an easy to use Halo timer. It has both Halo: CE and Halo 2 weapon/powerup respawns for every map! There is a ton more included, so just download it and customize it to your specific needs. Note: To extract .zip files, I recommend you use WinRAR - available here - WinRAR Halo:CE Tips and Tricks ` Halo:CE has weapon glitches that can be extremely crucial in your survival. As stated previously in this thread, the advanced users know these and have made them part of their normal technique. You must learn this if you want to have the slightest chance of survival in most any battle with a seasoned player. Weapon Glitches: - Double Melee
Melee+Grenade+Melee
- xbox default: B+L+B
- pc default: F+Right click+F - Backpack Reload
Reload + Reload + Switch weapons
- xbox default: X+X+Y
- pc default: R+R+Tab
` A huge advantage of Halo: CE is the power ups. The oversheild and the camo can set the tone of any game at any given time. It is in your biggest intrests to try to get both of these before your opponent, or at least killing your opponent as he/she obtains them. But if you actually manage to get the camoflauge before your opponent, there is a few techniques that can help you make the most out of your power up. Quick Camo: - Shotgun
- Assult Rifle
- Plasma Pistol
- Plasma Rifle
- Right as you pick up the camo, fire one of the weapons listed above just one time. It will send you into your camoflauge state faster then normal. It definately helps in battle, and could be the means of getting away from an attacker. Everytime you get hit with a bullet, the same thing applies. Fire the weapon and your camo will instantly be reactivated.
- Another way of doing this is secondary switching. Right when you grab the camoflauge, fire your pistol. You then must switch to your secondary (have one of the weapons listed above) and it will be instantly activated.
Player Handles ` As you know, all of the handle threads are completely outdated and unused. Here I will provide you with an easy to understand list of player handles. This will be updated as as soon as a new forumer posts his details. Please check back to this thread and let us know if you have a new handle.
