Scouse is awesome. I don't really know what Mackem is but I guess I have sort of an idea of what Geordie might sound like, and from what I remember it's not so bad to listen to.

He's right. Scouse (I'm from Liverpool, I don't mind admitting that) and Geordie are the most disgusting sounding accents ever.

British have always thought they ruled the world. So they speak the part and fool the rest of the world to think that they are intelligent.

How is it our fault we have these accents? It's not like you can stop having an accent.

We don't "speak the part" anyway, most of our accents have absolutely terrible pronunciation and have a huge amount of slang that quite frankly sounds awful.

The movies speak the part to trick others to think its more sophisticated. I said it weird in the first post.

I'd say the reason is probably to make Americans feel like it's "older" and make it feel more foreign, since it's taking place probably somewhere in Greece or Rome. Given that all of these movies are based on war and violence, I don't think the directors are trying to give Americans the impression that a British accent makes these people more sophisticated; it just sounds more antiquated to most American audiences.

Starwars is a weird example that kind of contradicts that. its futuristic but we dont know if it takes place in the past or the future.
