He doesn't want you to think that he is with/against Bush. It's like in school you can't tell what religion you are if you are a teacher.

Points to be noted

First of all, I'm appalled at the lack of intuitive intelligence the majority of the "Colbert Nation" manages to have.

1) His portrayal on his show is satirical -- he's a character. Stephen Colbert has a doctorate in Theatre, which is why he's such a well spoken figure with high integrity. It's very rare to see him break character, or stumble over lines.

2) Jon Stewart writes much of Stephen Colbert's material.

3) Being aware of current events and politics doesn't make you a good candidate for, well, anything other than what Colbert's job already is. Having the ability to sarcastically ridicule the decision methods and integrity of other officials and policies doesn't constitute having the ability to do any better yourself.

Here's a good idea: Stop electing politicians. I've been saying this for years now -- politicians are public speakers, and representatives to a general populus they manipulate or conform to in order to obtain positions of power. Making an A in your speech and debate classes doesn't imply you have decisive critical thinking skills, and it rarely ever applies practically to making public, foreign, economical, and war policies.

Ok, so now I am confused.

Do you guys actually think he was serious about running?

Never heard of a publicity stunt?

Cause if you answer yes to the first and no to the second, I have a whole nother reason to laugh in this thread.

Since when? None of my teachers has been afraid to tell me to which religion he belongs. My History teacher talks about it all the time in fact, that his wife is Jewish and he's Christian.

Also, I think it's quite obvious that he's not Bush's biggest fan. You couldn't pick that up?

Its about voting for who you believe in, despite if they have a chance or not. Someone who represents your opinions and political values. If youa re only voting for which big name you like better then what is the point. Even if they are gonna win, that isn't what elections are truly about, even though thats how they turn out.

The fact that so many people on this forum claim that they would vote for him alarms me. Our Generations is going to make america even sh.ttier if things like this continue,
