Evidence for homosexuality gene, it took me more time to number these than it did to find them. And those of you that are too lazy to find these resources on your own may thank me now. This is just 15 of the 264 published scientific papers I found on the subject :

Abstract: It is unlikely that any single factor can explain a trait as complex and variable as sexual orientation, but laboratory studies indicate that genes and brain development play a significant role. A brain cell group called the third interstitial nucleus of the anterior hypothalamus has been found to vary in size with gender and with sexual orientation. Family studies have found that the brothers of homosexual men, especially twin brothers, are more likely than men without gay brothers to be gay themselves. Gay brothers are also more likely than others to share matching genes in an X chromosome region called Xq28. People should bear in mind, however, that other claimed discoveries of genes related to personality traits have proved controversial. Furthermore, no specific homosexuality gene has been isolated, nor have investigators determined how such a gene might function.

Abstract: Pedigree analysis of the families of 76 homosexual men and DNA linkage studies of families that included 2 homosexual brothers were used to investigate the role of genetics in male sexual orientation. The data point to a statistically significant correlation between the inheritance of genetic markers on chromosomal region Xq28, the subtelomeric region of the long arm of the sex chromosome, and sexual orientation in a selected group of homosexual males. A statistical confidence level of more than 99 percent can be established for the effect of genetic influences on at least one subtype of male sexual orientation. .

Abstract: The Darwinian paradox of male homosexuality in humans is examined, i.e. if male homosexuality has a genetic component and homosexuals reproduce less than heterosexuals, then why is this trait maintained in the population? In a sample of 98 homosexual and 100 heterosexual men and their relatives (a total of over 4600 individuals), we found that female maternal relatives of homosexuals have higher fecundity than female maternal relatives of heterosexuals and that this difference is not found in female paternal relatives. The study confirms previous reports, in particular that homosexuals have more maternal than paternal male homosexual relatives, that homosexual males are more often later-born than first-born and that they have more older brothers than older sisters. We discuss the findings and their implications for current research on male homosexuality.

If I have a text-book here, at my house, and want to use it in a debate, can I? I'd cite it, of course, but it's not something other people can really see without buying it...What if I 'down-size' content so it can be readily understood. Can I use it then?

Text books are pretty easy to use. Yes citing it is good. This allows to check that you at least have the book.

I am imagining this thread as more of a thing for linking sources that can be found on the internet. I will add them all to the first post to keep it up to date on whatever subject you want.

If I were to list all of my text books it would be a bit rediculous though. I am sticking with papers about specific topics I come across. I have a few that I read this week that I will post later that were extremely interesting.

Nobody in my Christian Morality class believes me when I bring up the gay gene. I was hoping that you could tell me which of these articles would be:

A) Relatively short
B) In language that 10th graders would be able to understand.

I haven't the time to read all of them, I'm on a total time shortage.

1. This one has very little genetic terms in it and is a great deal of pedigree analysis in it. It is easy to read but not much for proof I am guessing in their eyes. Plus, is should be in your H.S. library or readily availible online.

A study from the University of California, Los Angeles, supports the argument that sexual identity and perhaps sexual orientation may be hardwired. In a study of mice, researchers identified 54 genes that functioned differently in male and female brains before the appearance of sex hormones. According to researchers, while the study has not identified a gay gene, it may aid in determining sexual identity's genetic origins, particularly in future studies. The study may also aid physicians in identifying the sex of infants born with ambiguous genitalia.

Absolutely, just post the article and in what you want it to be a reference too. And I have access to most journals and can get PDF's if you want.
