Playing as a Japanese soldier would alienate most American gamers because we are able to connect with an American soldier much more easily. Even as a Japanese gamer, they would not be able to connect to the ruthless military protocol of that the Empire of Japan in the 1940's and would probably end up as a failed game.

By the way, they need a new title. 'Call of Duty 5' sounds like something that is too recycled.

CoD is balls, I never liked the whole WW thing, that was for MoH(Medal Of Honor)

I don't mind the idea of another World War II game, as long as it's done right. CoD 2 was awesome. I haven't played 3, but I heard it was trash. CoD 1 was also totally awesome. Battlefield 1942? Awesome. Medal of Honor 1 and 2? Awesome. It can be done. Maybe there are too many World War II games, but how original can you really get with shooters. Before long, we'll have too many Alien War Shooter games.

Personally, CoD 4 is one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm infinitely more pissed about Infinity Ward not making CoD 5 than I am about it being set in WWII. Why two companies would even trade off making the same game is completely beyond me anyway.

On the other hand, the idea of fighting on the Japanese side is sort of neat. Plus, that means it will almost guaranteed be the Pacific Front of WWII. Believe it or not, this is actually very new. There aren't too many shooters that feature the pacific front of WWII. I, for one, am actually looking forward to that opportunity.
