Working two jobs, trying to make some money for the family. Other than that, I really haven't had the time for much of anything. If I did have free time, I'd play a little WoW... but that's about it.

  • Same goes for words with a "e" at the end (or when they don't have one I think they do.. ) such as "sense", "fabulous", "jealous".. I kinda found the trick but I still misunderstand some of them. :/
Dictionary*

I see why you messed that up though since in French it's "dictionnaire".

Ahah Thanks for correcting me =) I do this kind of mistake pretty often.. Sometimes, in french you need to double a letter, when in english you don't need to.. God damn exceptions <3

I'm focussing mostly on the things I notice in the forum and things that are definitely wrong. If you want to make a thread on disputed things in English, like whether the past participle of "to sneak" should be "sneaked" or "snuck", then be my guest. It's only that it's not the focus of this particular thread.
That's a good one to put under the spelling section. I always see it misspelled or abbreviated as "deff." with two f's.

Why do you have to put an apostrophe at the end of word that end with "n" or "a".

Example- Goin' or Wanna'

The apostrophe denotes a deleted letter, in the case of "goin'", it's a 'g'. It's for the same reason that you put an apostrophe in "doesn't".

Thank you for making this thread, I hate it when people use bad grammar and misspell words

All right I've just added one that's really been annoying me.

People tend to write things like "noticable" or "irreplacable". These would be pronounced "no-ti-ka-bl" and "ir-re-pla-ka-bl". The correct spelling is "noticeable" or "irreplaceable", the 'e' is retained so the pronunciation of the 'c' is kept soft.

Well done, Erik. I always thought of myself as a decent writer, and now I refer to this thread.

Thanks.
