| Hmm, the topic choice is a bit inaccurate... Not all Catholics/Christians hate gay people.
Let's back up a bit... while Look_unto_Jesus' posts may hold some water, there needs to be a bit of a backdrop first... Some people may simply not know that the mere act of homosexuality is against standards written in Scripture. Before that, they don't know what is actually in store for the future, and why they should even consider them if they don't know? 2 Peter 2:21 reads: For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.
That is what all given translations of 2 Peter 2:21 says, the message is clear, and there isn't any symbolic or metaphoric interpretations for that one line. Basically, even these (unknowing) people will be given a chance for righteousness. There are many other occasions in Scripture that round out the reasons why pursuing these Scriptural standards would benefit them; but I also know that yes, some people would rather stay as they are.
The post on God ordering the killing of many people is a bit off-topic and would lead to branching out of off-topic ideas (potentially). Not only that, but a reason behind the killings is not provided, leading readers to be misled into thinking that God kills blindly. However, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah comes to mind, the cities destroyed due to practices of homosexuality, for the most part.
